Popular actress Nomcebo Gumede, who's widely known for her character as Mumsy in SABC1's soapie Uzalo, has bagged the role of Mandisa Vilakazi in e.tv's telenovela Imbewu: The Seed.

INSIDE NOMCEBO GUMEDE'S NEW ROLE The telenovela Imbewu: The Seed announced on their social media channels yesterday, 30 August that the former Uzalo actress Nomcebo Gumede will play a lawyer Mandisa Vilakazi.

Sunday World reports that her character is a criminal law consultant. According to the episode from last night's episode in Imbewu, she's been hired by Leleti Khumalo's character MaZulu to save her son Zithulele (Raphael Griffith) who's currently facing prison for murder.

Gumede is also known for her role in Mzansi Magic's drama series Ifalakhe the daughter of Nandoro, as Chamai The Warrior and the apple of his eye.

HER ROLE IN UZALO' The fan-favourite actress made her comeback in Mzansi's most-watched soapie Uzalo in October 2020 as Pastor Mdlethe's troublesome daughter Mumsy.

Speaking to Daily Sun at the time, Gumede told the publication she was surprised when the casting director called her to ask if she was available.

This is the third time Mumsy is making a comeback on the show. I never thought she'd come back.

I only believed it when I had to sign the contract, she said.

The thespian also told Uzalo viewers at the time to expect the unexpected when Mumsy returns.

People shouldn't expect Mumsy to be crazy.

They shouldn't expect her to be the same person she was when she left for Swaziland.

Although people are going to see a soft side to her, she is still going to bring drama and excitement to the show as she's hiding a big secret, she said.

According to the publication, the actress left Uzalo three times as Mumsy and pursued other roles.

Her character dated Mastermind, played by former DiepCity actor TK Dlamini in the soapie.
