Berklee's Music Business/Management Department has partnered with Atlanta-based record label and creative agency Love Renaissance (LVRN) and artist-first music streaming and discovery platform Audiomack on a five-day immersive music business summer program.
Taking place from June 27 to July 1 at the college's Boston campus, the program will host 80 students, ages 15 and up, from across the globe. Taught by visiting industry experts and members of Berklee's world-class faculty, students will learn about the ins and outs of every major sector of the music industry, from artist development and recorded music to publishing and marketing. The curriculum will also focus on design thinking, digital storytelling, social media best practices, and emerging technologies that are revolutionizing how music is recorded, distributed, marketed, and monetized.
At LVRN we are known for signing and developing great artists, said Amber Grimes, executive vice president and general manager for Love Renaissance. But we are also interested in identifying and empowering the next generation of music executives. The program we've put together with Berklee and Audiomack will give students a firsthand look at how things work in the modern music industry and at LVRN in particular, and will hopefully help to inspire the brightest young minds to work in our industry.

During the five-day program, students will be presented with case studies on two up-and-coming Love Renaissance artists-North Ave Jax, a rising hip-hop artist from Burlington, Vermont, and Eli Derby, a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist-who will attend the last two days of the camp. The guest artists will interact directly with students and share their creative processes, career goals, experiences in the music industry, and insights on how to thrive in the new market environment. Students will be guided to create real-world, actionable marketing and social media strategies, followed by the opportunity to pitch their ideas to Love Renaissances executives and artists at the close of the program.
These students have no idea what's in store, said Tonya Butler, chair of the Music Business/Management Department. The opportunity to learn about the music business from industry pros, as well as work with real-life recording artists and pitch their ideas to record label executives is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime experience that only Berklee can offer.
