PROCAM PROJECTS CHOSEN AS SOLE CAMERA SUPPLIER FOR THE LIVE WORLD PREMIERE OF JAGUARS E-PACE

Procam Projects was approached by EP-PIC Films & Creative to provide a filming and gallery solution for the world premiere of the new Jaguar E-PACE, which was shrouded in secrecy. Procam and EP-PIC worked closely together for digital marketing agency and client, TVC Group, who were working closely with the global launch event producer, Imagination.

For the launch of the E-PACE compact performance SUV, Jaguar collaborated with legendary British stunt driver, Terry Grant, who performed a 270-degree corkscrew-like barrel roll over a 15.3-metre-long jump. The record-breaking jump, which took place at London s ExCel, set an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Furthest Barrel Roll in a Production Vehicle.

Full Project Management and Technical Support

To ensure a seamless and successful filming of the launch, Procam Projects was on location at ExCel for four days, with a support crew of over 20 team members. Projects rigged and installed a 17-camera and 27-lens infrastructure to capture all elements of the launch. The bespoke gallery, used for technical and production areas, included EVS and vision mixers.

The project incorporated pack shots of the car, the stunt and press launch event which included performances by Pete Tong and the 65-piece Heritage Orchestra (55 piece for the event due to stage size), and British singer-songwriter, Raye. Procam worked closely with EP-PIC to produce and stream the live element of the event for TVC, a fully integrated agency offering expertise across media and influencer relations, social, digital and production.

Bespoke OB Solutions

With such a special launch event planned, TVC sought to capture the all-new Jaguar E-PACE in the highest resolution on the best-quality equipment. A selection of seven ARRI Amira and Alexa Mini cameras were racked through a centralised engineering portable production unit gallery, enabled by Projects inventory of Ereca Cam Racers and Stage Racers.

Projects utilised 35mm Angenieux cine lenses through its bespoke lens control system, which fully integrates into the cine workflow. Procams continued investments allow Projects to use cine cameras and lenses in an OB environment, offering its clients a solution that is unique to Procam and not available elsewhere.

For such a landmark event and launch, I wanted to achieve a polished and filmic look within an OB environment for my clients, said Emer Patten, EP-PIC Films & Creative. I knew that Procam Projects would provide the bespoke solution I was looking for. Their experience in integrating different camera formats allowed EP-PIC to present a high-end Cine solution to TVC and Imagination, which was the perfect solution for such a high-calibre product.

Capturing the Stunt in Slow-Motion and 4K Resolution

Projects also drew upon resources within elsewhere in the Procam Group, calling on Take 2 for the Phantom 4K Flex camera. The camera was chosen as the primary high-speed camera for the stunt, as it is capable of shooting 1,000 frames per second at 4K resolution.

This capability allowed Projects to capture two seconds of real-time footage of the stunt, which would then be turned into over one minute of footage in playback. The efficient data workflow, provided by Take 2, enabled Projects to have all the files ready for post-production within the same day.
