DStv and Showmax have appointed media consultancy Hoorah Digital to take their performance marketing efforts to the next level.

Because the two media properties already have a solid performance marketing team, Hoorah Digital won't be taking over the media buying operation. Instead, the digital media consultancy will take on a supportive role, helping the two brands optimise their media strategies.

The first step in this process entails conducting high-level audits to determine where the team can improve its performance marketing efforts.

Additionally, Hoorah Digital will provide training to ensure that the team understands how to use the Google Marketing Platform.

Any brand that's never used the Google Marketing Platform needs help with training, help setting up the structures within the platform, and help making sure that all your tracking is set up correctly, says Hoorah Digital co-founder and head of Media, Tasmin Kingma. That's what we're going to provide for DStv and Showmax .

According to Kingma, this kind of work will become increasingly important in a shifting media landscape.

Digital media doesn't work the way it used to, she says. You can't just have three or four digital media strategies running at the same time and hope for the best.

If you want to take your business further and if you want to get to the next level of performance marketing, you need to ensure that you understand all the channel strategies, that you identify all missed opportunities, and that you know what to take from that.

That Showmax and DStv understand this, says Kingma, is hardly surprising.

Showmax and DStv are two of the leading brands from a performance marketing perspective, she says. I think they are quite ahead of a lot of brands in South Africa and provide a very good example for other brands.

It's super exciting for us to work with a client like that who really understands performance marketing, says Kingma. I think it's a good challenge for us as well, because we get to work with a like-minded performance marketer who knows what we need to deliver for them.
