The Checkout - Live at Berklee Returns with Seventh Year of Alumni Showcase Broadcast from Boston to New York via WBGO-FM

New York area radio station WBGO Jazz 88.3 FM/WBGO.org, NPR Music, and Berklee present the seventh year of The Checkout - Live at Berklee. The series brings critically acclaimed, New York-based Berklee alumni back to their alma mater for concerts in the Red Room at Cafe 939. The shows will be broadcast in New York over WBGO-FM as a special edition of The Checkout, the multimedia show featuring what's new on New York's jazz scene. In addition, selected shows will be webcast live worldwide in high definition and available for on-demand listening at NPRmusic.org. They will also be archived at Checkoutjazz.org.

The fall 2017 edition of The Checkout - Live at Berklee will feature the Lage Lund Trio, October 4, and Lauren Kinhan of New York Voices, November 8. Tickets for both shows are on sale at etix.com, and the Red Room at Cafe 939, 939 Boylston Street, Boston.

Lage Lund is acclaimed as one of the finest guitarists of his generation, and one of the most compelling jazz artists in the world. Voted as the No. 2 rising star in guitar in the 2014 DownBeat Critics' Poll, Lund has been hailed by Pat Metheny as a favorite young guitarist. Russell Malone, one of the judges who awarded Lund the top prize in the 2005 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Guitar Competition, described him as all music and all soul. Lund has recorded five albums of original music on the Criss Cross label.

Legendary producer Phil Ramone discovered and signed Lauren Kinhan at a Bitter End performance in 1997, impressed by her fiercely creative voice and original music. With influences steeped in jazz and a love of the great singer-songwriters, Kinhan's vocal style borrows from both disciplines while moving the original song forward in unexpected ways. A new album by Kinhan, A Sleepin Bee, pays tribute to jazz vocalist Nancy Wilson and will be released October 6. It was recorded at Berklee with Grammy Award-winning producer Elliot Scheiner.

Previous performers of The Checkout - Live at Berklee have included Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Ingrid Jensen, Guillermo Klein, Chihiro Yamanaka, Melissa Aldana, Walter Smith, Matthew Stevens, and Victor Prieto.
