Timeline Television will provide post production services for the next six-part series of Channel 4's historical drama, The Mill. The first four-part series transmitted on Channel 4 in August 2013.
Written by John Fay and set in rural-industrial England, the serial depicts a Britain in 1833, undergoing the changes of the industrial revolution.
The second series of the drama is being shot on ARRI ALEXA in 2K on location in Cheshire and at MediaCity's Pie Factory. At Timeline North in MediaCity, the ingest and assembly of the programme takes place as it is edited on Avid Symphony. Daily edits are uploaded to Aframe's cloud network.
Once on the cloud network, footage can be viewed on a web-interface, enabling DSP's production team to browse, log, sub-clip, annotate, organise and download their rushes and edits via any internet device. In Timeline Soho, the reviewing of the rough and fine cut takes place as Timeline mirrors all the media before it is sent back up to Timeline North for finishing on Avid Symphony, graded on DaVinci Resolve and mixed using Avid Pro Tools HD.
Eben Clancy, Director of Post Production for Timeline North, said: The key ingredient here is flexibility. We've managed to blur the lines between Soho and the North and we're giving drama productions the ability to choose a workflow that really suits them.
Eben Clancy will be speaking at BVE (Broadcast Video Expo) in London next week in the Post Production Theatre on 25 February on a panel called The Cloud: A Technical Nightmare or a Dream Come True for Collaboration?
