
David A. Smith gives a master seminar in Madrid and Barcelona Madrid y Barcelona acogen esta semana el seminario Desde la ingesta al iPad', organizado por Rohde & Schwarz e impartido por uno de los profesionales con m s reputaci n mundial en codificaci n y flujos de trabajo. Los ltimos formatos de compresi n, como JPEG2000 y HEVC/H.265, el Media Asset Management, los sistemas de edici n, playout y compresi n, la transmisi n de RF, los sistemas de entrega por IP tales, las aplicaciones para social TV o la irrupci n del HbbTV centran este seminario.
Bajo el t tulo de Desde la ingesta al iPad, Rohde & Schwarz ha organizado este martes en Madrid, y el d a 13 en Barcelona, un interesante seminario en el que se ha analizado la cadena completa de aplicaciones IT-broadcast y las tecnolog as necesarias para el broadcaster de xito del futuro.
El seminario ha estado impartido magistralmente por David Smith, responsable de ventas, marketing y desarrollo de producto en el rea de broadcast, cabeceras y multimedia en R&S y autor de varios ensayos y art culos t cnicos, adem s de ser un experimentado ponente en conferencias, seminarios y cursos de formaci n en todo el mundo.
Las altas resoluciones de v deo como el 4K, la compresi n HEVC y los sistemas de entrega en MPEG-DASH son s lo algunas de las innovaciones que se introducir n r pidamente en los pr ximos a os. Las decisiones tomadas hoy sobre los formatos de c mara, los flujos de trabajo basados en archivos y los sistemas de codificaci n y entrega afectar n directamente la calidad de nuestra transici n al paradigma IT-broadcast del futuro. De ah que este seminario analice cada uno de los diferentes aspectos que influyen en una emisi n multidispositivo.
New compression formats
Las primeras sesiones se han en el impacto de los ltimos formatos de compresi n, tales como JPEG2000 y HEVC/H.265, en el Media Asset Management, los sistemas de edici n, playout y compresi n. La transmisi n de RF y sistemas de entrega por IP tales como DVB-T2 o MPEG-DASH, aplicaciones para social TV o la irrupci n del HbbTV completan este seminario.
David A. Smith ha destacado que frente a los formatos de archivo conocidos hoy, tanto a nivel de codificaci n como wrapper o contenedor (XDCAM, DNxHD, AVC-intra, ProRes ) estamos viviendo el despegue de interesantes propuestas como los formatos de producci n basados en H.264 y compresi n intra e interframe con una tasa t pica de datos de 100 Mbps como el XAVC impulsado por Sony o el AVC LongG propuesto por Panasonic, o el nuevo formato para distribuci n HEVC/H.265.
En este complejo mundo que se abre ahora, Smith ha subrayado el papel que iniciativas como el Framework For Interoperable Media Services (FIMS) pueden tener para simplificar los sistemas multicomercializador. Desarrollado por AMWA y la UER, participan en l empresa como Sony, IBM, Avid, Snell, Oracle, Quantel, Cisco o la propia Rohde & Schwarz.
Coexisten un tremendo n mero de formatos de archivo, c decs y contenedores para almacenar datos de v deo digitales. Cabe rese ar la ausencia de un est ndar general para el intercambio de datos de v deo digitales y, sinceramente, no existe una soluci n disponible para una distribuci n sencilla y una transferencia de versiones b2b (idioma, subt tulos, inserciones de v deo..) , ha asegurado Smith.
Sin embargo, ha destacado el papel que est jugando el pr ximo Formato de M ster Digital (IMF), llamado a ser el sucesor de la cinta HDCAMSR basado en archivos. Este est ndar SMPTE utiliza compresi n intermedia minimizando el almacenamiento y guarda el material nicamente con las diferencias ejecutadas y no versiones enteras. Este aspecto es especialmente importante a la hora de editar o modificar contenidos para aerol neas, por ejemplo, crear versiones censuradas, incorporar escenas adicionales (director's cut), inserci n de publicidad customizada o en general llevar a cabo cualquier edici n que modifica la duraci n. R&S ya incluy el IMF en su suite Clipster v5.7 en junio del a o pasado.
En lo que a almacenamiento para broadcast online, Smith considera que es importante contar con m s de una copia del contenido clave, as como la posibilidad de a adir terabytes adicionales seg n crezca la operativa. Todo ello, sin fallos de arquitectura y con suficiente ancho de banda para ingesta, codificaci n, navegaci n en alta y baja resoluci n, y edici n.
En entornos broadcast, el workflow es cada m s importante que el rendimiento de cada equipo por separado , ha asegurado Smith. Con esta filosof a, Rohde & Schwarz presenta en este Seminario diferentes soluciones como Clipster (postproducci n), almacenamiento (DVS-SAN, SpycerBox), servidores (Venice, Pronto4), gesti n (Spycer) o pantallas gigantes (Atomix).
Coding
Desde el punto de vista de la codificaci n, David A. Smith se ha detenido en las posibilidades que brinda el nuevo est ndar JPEG2000, que aporta mejoras sustanciales respecto al JPEG original. Este formato resulta especialmente indicado para edici n y contribuci n ya que proporciona una compresi n de muy alta calidad en tasa de bits media a alta (50Mb/s+) y presenta una estructora solo I-frame. Ya que contiene de origen los proxies de baja y alta resoluci n, es idel para la navegaci n de contenidos basada en red y la edici n first-pass. En cuanto a interoperabilidad, crece d a a d a su soporte como c dec para Interoperable Media Packages (IMF). Sin embargo, Smith, reconoce que el JPEG2000 no ser a la opci n adecuada para distribuci n ya que tendr a aplicaciones DTH, OTT/IPTV o MPEG-DASH.
El ingeniero de Rohde & Schwarz ha hecho tambi n un repaso a las ventajas de la codificaci n de v deo de alta eficiencia con HEVC/H.265.
