Vinh Long, Vietnam, October 18, 2016: THVL, one of the largest television networks in Vietnam, has joined the rapidly growing list of broadcasters upgrading to PlayBox Technology Neo. The newly purchased system was designed and commissioned in partnership with the PlayBox Technology official reseller for Vietnam, Mediatech.
THVL is the state-owned public-service television broadcaster for Vinh Long province, says Mediatech Project Director Nguyen Tien Long. The network has used PlayBox Technology AirBox successfully for many years on both its channels as the core of its channel branding, scheduling and playout infrastructure. This latest installation, at the networks headquarters in Vinh Long City, enables THVL 1 and THVL 2 to advance from standard-definition into high-definition broadcasting. It includes two AirBox Neo servers, two TitleBox Neo channel branding modules and a ListBox Neo schedule creation and playlist editor.
Automated character generation based on TitleBox Neo makes THVLs output distinctive and highly attractive. The stations operational staff find the entire Neo platform easy to work with. Their engineering colleagues recognise that PlayBox Technology Neo gives them the flexibility to introduce UHD services at any time in the future. THVL also appreciates the high quality after-sales support we are able to provide from our premises in Hanoi.
AirBox Neo and its supporting range of options have proved the most successful product launch in our companys history, adds PlayBox Technology President Don Ash. Neo is quite simply the most reliable, flexible and scalable television channel branding and playout system in the business. It can also be integrated closely with our CloudAir solution to provide extended features such as cloud-based storage, asset management and disaster-recovery.
The Neo series includes AirBox itself, ProductionAirBox Neo, AdBox Neo, CaptureBox Neo, EdgeBox Neo, ListBox Neo, TitleBox Neo, QCBox Neo, SafeBox Neo and TimeShiftBox Neo. These can be combined on a single server or multiple servers to match practically any modern broadcast workflow. Equally important, the Neo product series is designed to allow easy integration with third-party hardware and software in practically any IP, HD-SDI or SD-SDI configuration. Many companies claim to be developing open IP interfacing. We pioneered IP-based and IP-based content distribution with our long-established and very popular EdgeBox.
AirBox Neo adds UHD capabilities to the core PlayBox Technology content playout system which now supports UHD, HD and SD in single server. New features include a streaming input supporting HTTP, HTTP Secure, UDP, RTMP, MMS, MMSH and YouTube. RTMP Streaming Output improvements have also been added, allowing easy web streaming. AirBox Neo comes with a virtual output which now supports multiple instances. Third-party product support has been extended to Ross NK series routers and the Horita TR-100 timecode reader. Timecode can now be applied to MOV files. Multiple DeckLink cards can now be used for multi-channel ad insertion. Enhancements have also been made to the clip trimmer and audio level control. AirBox Neo is designed for 24/7 unattended operation. It can also be operated manually, including the ability to handle live-to-air throughput.
ListBox Neo is an offline programme schedule creation and playlist editor. It allows schedules to be created and edited days or weeks ahead of transmission. Features include clip trimming, text searching, clip copying/pasting and schedule printing. No special server or hardware is required. ListBox Neo runs flawlessly even on a notebook.
TitleBox Neo provides a wide range of interactive on-air graphics and titling capabilities which can be manipulated live. It includes substantial improvements for dealing with UHD projects as well as supporting HD and SD operation. A new API plug-in has been produced for use by PlayBox Technology development partners, allowing easy interfacing to third-party software devices. Improvements have also been made in dealing with ODBC data providers and RSS feeds. TitleBox Neo provides total control during on-air session, including text selection, running speed and transitions. The feature set includes horizontal crawling text, vertically rolling credits and messages, still and animated logo graphics, analogue and digital clocks, banner slideshows and chat text with automated horizontal or vertical scrolling. Among the additional creative facilities are pre-constructed graphic components, video resizing (from live source or file), window-style display and website content ingest.

THVL (www.thvl.vn) broadcasts to over a million viewers living in the 1,480 square kilometre Vinh Long region of south western Vietnam. Its two channels cover a wide range of themes including news coverage, documentaries, cookery, creative arts, drama, sports, health, comedy and general entertainment.
