ESPN Most Socially Engaged Network

NEW YORK - ESPN is not just the worldwide leader in sports it seems, as a release of the top 10 TV networks on social media during July from Shareable has revealed the sports network to be the most engaged across the major social media websites. Shareable, in partnership with CBS, NBC, ESPN, Univision, Fox News and CNN, measures the social engagement of all TV shows and main network brand accounts under each network across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Led by SportsCenter, ESPN came in at number one with 66.7 million total actions across the four social media sites; the network was number one on both Twitter, 8.6 million actions, and Instagram, 31.8 million actions. Telemundo came in at number two overall, but was number one on Facebook, with 56.5 million actions, making up the majority of its 58.9 million total actions. ABC dominated YouTube, generating 822,200 actions. Univision and Fox News rounded out the top five networks.

FX may have fallen short of the top 10, but the network did see the largest growth of any other network in July, growing 122 percent in large part due to the social promotion of American Horror Story.

In addition, Shareable revealed the top five TV shows by engagement, with ESPN once again taking the lead with SportsCenter (36.4 million actions). The rest of the top five rounded out with ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars (23.6 million), MTV's Teen Wolf (12 million), Telemundo's El Sendor de los Cielos (11.6 million), and ABC's Good Morning America (10.9 million actions).

Overall, TV networks saw a 13 percent growth in total social actions compared to June 2015, with a total of 551.2 million social actions.
