The power of cinema as a form of artistic expression is unquestionable. For over a century, film has portrayed the world that surrounds us. And Mexican cinema - rich with tradition, history, and impact - has continued. Through our filmography, we question and discover who we are, where we come from, and where we are going.

This year, we celebrate Mexican cinema once again, reiterating our commitment and acknowledging all of those who are part of this industry: artists, artisans, and technicians both in front of and behind the camera, and without whom there would be no stories to tell. In the quest for authenticity on screen and a diversity of voices, we work hand in hand with the best directors, writers, and producers for Mexico to be seen, Que M xico Se Vea, within our borders and beyond.

Today, I am proud to announce a new project: the adaptation of Los dos hemisferios de Lucca, based on the moving book of the same name by B rbara Anderson, to be directed by Mariana Chenillo (Nora's Will, Somos) and screenplay by Javier Pe alosa, starring B rbara Mori and Juan Pablo Medina, and produced by Woo Films. This project joins other films that will launch in 2024:

Pedro P ramo, an adaptation of Juan Rulfo's iconic novel, is directed by acclaimed cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto with a screenplay by Mateo Gil. Currently in post-production. A Redrum and Woo Films co-production.

Fiesta en la madriguera, an adaptation of the namesake novel by Juan Pablo Villalobos, directed by Manolo Caro (The House of Flowers) and adapted for the screen by Oscar winner Nicol s Giacobone. Currently in production under Noc Noc Films and Woo Films.

And we have an exciting slate of films premiering later this year:

The Great Seduction still

The Great Seduction is a film about the importance of community, directed by Celso Garc a (The Thin Yellow Line) and starring Memo Villegas and Pierre Louis, with Yalitza Aparicio. The film is a Pimienta production (Roma, Prayers for the Stolen). Premiering Aug. 30.

The Darkness within La Luz del Mundo still

The Darkness within La Luz del Mundo is a heart-wrenching documentary directed by Carlos P rez Osorio (The Three Deaths of Marisela Escobedo) and produced by Laura Woldenberg and Ivonne Guti rrez (The Three Deaths of Marisela Escobedo, The Lady of Silence: The Mataviejitas Murders). Premiering Sept. 28.

A Deadly Invitation still

A Deadly Invitation is based on the namesake novel by Carmen Posadas and is directed by JM Cravioto (Diablero, Monarca, Mexican Gangster) and produced by Windsor Films. With performances by Maribel Verd , Regina Bland n, Manolo Cardona, Aar n D az, Stephanie Cayo, Jos Mar a de Tavira and Helena Rojo. Coming this October.

Hurricane Season still

The film adaptation of Fernanda Melchor's must-read novel, Hurricane Season, directed by Elisa Miller and stars Edgar Trevi o, Ernesto Mel ndez, Andr s C rdova, Paloma Alvamar, and Kat Rigoni. Produced by Woo Films. Coming in 2023.

I Dont Expect Anyone to Believe Me still

The new film by Fernando Fr as de la Parra (I'm No Longer Here), I Dont Expect Anyone to Believe Me, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Juan Pablo Vilalobos, screenplay by Mar a Camila Arias and Fr as himself, and starring Dar o Yazbek, Natalia Soli n, Alexis Ayala, and Anna Castillo. Produced by Exile Content and Zeta Studios. Coming in 2023.

Familia, written and directed by Rodrigo Garc a, is the first film in Spanish by the renowned Mexican-Colombian director. It is currently in post-production and is produced by Panorama. Coming in 2023.
