Famobi, a German HTML5 games distributor with an international focus, is using Level 3 Communications content delivery network (CDN) and storage solutions to address the important challenge of improving end users' gaming experience.
Famobi was created by most of the former KaiserGames team, which launched SpielAffe.de and made it Germany's most visited gaming portal, with more than 250 million page impressions at its peak. Since the founding of Famobi, the user base and business relationships have become more international, with the company focused on providing the best experience for gamers and partners both in and outside Germany, and business partners requiring a quick and easy-to-use distribution platform.
Challenges Famobi faced included users' demand for easy and quick access to games, as well as a storage solution that could handle large amounts of data. These challenges were addressed through a combination of Level 3's CDN and cloud-based storage. Famobi reports that its users now stay on the sites for longer and dropout rates have decreased.

This benefits us as a growing company, because repeat visits increase the page impressions and ultimately our revenue. The Level 3 storage solution saves us money on hardware and administration while giving us the peace of mind of knowing we can scale up as our needs change.
Following tests to select a provider, Level 3 came out on top in Famobi's international performance measurement tests. The company added the Level 3 storage solution to relieve the load on its own servers and support fast file transfer into the delivery network. As a result, the site responds much faster and more smoothly to the gamers' actions - regardless of where they are based. Level 3 recently added GZIP, the function to compress files, which has been shown to further reduce download times. Level 3 also provides technical support to Famobi, delivering a rapid response to queries as the support is located in the same time zone.
