Burbank, CA - October 3, 2012 -KCET, the nations largest independent public television station serving Southern and Central California, is pleased to announce that KCET.orgs unique new arts initiative, Artbound, has been named The Best Arts & Culture Site by LA Weekly.
In LA Weeklys third annual web awards, Artbound was recognized for its wide range of content, including articles, videos and regions it covers.
The initiative draws upon articles contributed by experienced artistic advisors, cultural critics, curators and journalists, representing Southern Californias 11 counties, which are rated by readers and vetted by the Artbound editorial team. The top columns are produced as videos--some of which air as hour-long programs on KCET.
Judges offered praise for the sites ability to celebrate the regions unique artistic expressions: The sheer amount of territory covered by KCETs Artbound is admirable and Who said public and local were over? Artbound curates the best and most offbeat the city of L.A. has to offer.

Artbounds second broadcast debuts on KCET Thursday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.

Juan Devis, KCETs Director of Production and Program Development is the executive producer for the series. ABOUT ARTBOUND
Artbound is a Southern and Central California cultural journalism project produced by KCET dedicated to producing an online destination about the arts and culture of our region. Columns are penned by more than 20 experienced artistic advisors, cultural critics, curators and definitive tastemakers of the arts. This unique trans-media multi-platform initiative explores the arts in 11 counties using a participatory methodology in which visitor and fan engagement propel popular columns to the next platform of production; first as in depth short form video documentaries; and based on the volume and quality of user comments, a 30-minute episode for television.
