West Middlesex University Hospital Go Wireless With New FDR Go Mobiles

When West Middlesex University Hospital (WMUH) were planning their acquisition of two new mobile x-ray units they turned to their sister hospital at Chelsea and Westminster (C&W) for advice. Last year C&W concluded an extensive clinical trial of mobiles, and based on these results they selected the Fujifilm FDR Go which was assessed as the top option. Due to the excellent performance of the C&W FDR Go mobiles WMUH selected Fujifilm as supplier for their new mobiles, one of which is for general use and the other is specifically dedicated for use in SCBU.

Both mobiles have made an instant impact at WMUH as Alexandra Cook, Superintendent Plain Imaging, explains. The wireless mobile connection to PACS and RIS has really improved our workflow. Not only are our radiographers and workflows more efficient, but the consultants now have immediate access to images at the patient bedside, which has resulted in faster diagnosis and has made a real difference, esepcially in CCU. The Fujifilm FDR Go mobiles are also compact and manoeuverable which makes them very easy to move around the hospital.

Fujifilm's range of mobile x-ray units, including the FDR Go and the FDR nano, are particularly popular with paediatric units and hospitals. The dose reductions that can be achieved with Fujifilm's image processing technologies such as Virtual Grid and Dynamic Visualization II , which optimises processing for each aspect of the image, have substantial benefits for paediatric patients. To help minimise the need to move neonatal patients the smaller C24 D-EVO II detector is also designed to fit into an incubator bucky, while IPX6 waterproofing and Hydro AG antibacterial coating make the D-EVO II detectors practical in all situations.

Virtual Grid has revolutionised our mobile image quality said Alexandra. Our SCBU consultants are really pleased with the images, especially for lines and tubes, and they are also very happy with the dose reduction which is particularly important for our paediatric patients.
