OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 15.09.2016. Touch, test, ask questions. Experiencing ZEISS products will have priority at the stand (hall 2.2, C018) of ZEISS, a German-based optics company, during Photokina, the world's biggest photography exhibition, which runs from September 20 - 25 in Cologne. Visitors can test ZEISS camera lenses and explore the world of photography in a playful way inside a mega lens.
A mega lens and the North Sea as testing ground
ZEISS lenses for still and cine cameras that are available on the market can be tested on location. To do that, visitors will have access to different cameras from ZEISS partners Sony and ARRI, as well as from Canon1) and Nikon2). Visitors who want to bring their own camera can compare the ZEISS lenses with their own focal lengths. In order to create conditions that are as realistic as possible for photographers, ZEISS has built a North Sea landscape with a lighthouse, dunes and canopied beach chairs at its 800-square-meter stand.
At Photokina 2016 we at ZEISS want to make it possible for visitors to experience our brand, and we want to familiarize them with the fascination of optics in its many facets, says Winfried Scherle, Executive Vice President Consumer Optics Business Group at ZEISS. That includes of course showing our new products. At the ZEISS stand visitors will be met by an enormous lens that they can walk through. This mega lens is not only ideally suited as a photographic motif; inside the lens, visitors will learn interesting things about the world of optics: How do different focal lengths impact an image? What exactly does depth of field mean and what effects can you achieve with it? What sort of stresses and strains does a ZEISS lens have to withstand? How can a special coating on the lens improve a photograph?
New lenses for DSLR cameras, for the iPhone 3) and virtual reality glasses
ZEISS will present various new products during Photokina 2016: three focal lengths for the ZEISS Milvus family (ZEISS Milvus 2.8/15, ZEISS Milvus 2.8/18 and ZEISS Milvus 2/135) for DSLR cameras, the portrait lens ZEISS Loxia 2.4/85 for mirrorless full-frame cameras from Sony, and the compact, light-weight cine lens ZEISS Lightweight Zoom LWZ.3 21-100mm/T2.9-3.9 T*. For users who want to get more out of their smartphone camera, an accessory lens for mobile photography called ExoLens with optics by ZEISS, could be interesting. The three focal lengths of ExoLens can be mounted on an iPhone using a bracket. The virtual reality glasses ZEISS VR ONE Plus can also be tested at ZEISS' stand. When combined with a smartphone, these glasses take visitors into virtual worlds with the help of 360-degree videos and games.
At the stand visitors can learn more about the partnership between Sony and ZEISS, which began 20 years ago and continues to create benefits for the customers to this day. ZEISS will also provide information about the company's other business areas. For example, using the i.Profiler plus from ZEISS, visitors to Photokina can have their vision analyzed. Nature lovers can inform themselves about ZEISS binoculars and spotting scopes and test these products both at the ZEISS stand and in the ZOOM area outside.
During the entire trade fair, a team of experts from ZEISS will be available to answer questions about ZEISS products, photography in general and optics.
For all those who cannot attend Photokina, ZEISS will report live from the ZEISS stand on Facebook. www.facebook.com/carlzeisslenses
