Stony Brook University is an over nearly 1500 acre campus, which means a full schedule of educational activities and live events for the school's in-house production company to shoot, and all of it happens with three new Ikegami HDK-95C Full Digital Portable CMOS Camera Systems.
SBU selected Ikegami cameras for their precision CMOS imagery, ease-of-use, and extreme reliability all essential attributes in a fast-paced environment with plenty of variety. Our Video Production Group produces a wide variety of content for the University, says Gary Van Sise, Director, Educational Technologies at Stony Brook University. Our projects include creating educational and promotional materials, documenting faculty research as well as streaming live events. These cameras are constantly moving from our studios to our many special event spaces on campus. When we chose the cameras for our upgrade to HD, we specified the best possible picture and equipment that will last. We were looking for Ikegami quality.
Van Sise and his team were able to make immediate use of the Ikegami HDK-95C's Native multi-format 2.5 million pixel, 2/3 inch CMOS sensors. Part of Ikegami's Unicam HD line, the HDK-95C also can be upgraded to 24p and 3G formats, including 1080/60p and 4:4:4 24p. We have an upgrade path with the HDK-95C which would not be available to us from most other cameras, Van Sise observes.
The Ikegami HDK-95C is a versatile camera for SBU, proving equally easy to use in the field or in the studio for their full-time and freelance crews. These are our go-to cameras for any type of event work, says Van Sise. Our operators appreciate how easy the HDK-95C is to use, and the level of control that these cameras offer.
As longtime users of Ikegami cameras, SBU knew to expect reliability and world-class customer support when it chose the HDK-95C. We've had two generations of Ikegami cameras on campus, and they are workhorses, Van Sise says. Ikegami cameras have always proven reliable, but if we have any questions or concerns we can reach out to Ikegami and get service immediately.
The CMOS imagery of the Ikegami HDK-95C gives Stony Brook University everything they were looking for in a camera. The variety of programs that we cover is just incredible, and producing video for Stony Brook allows us to be a part of all the great things that the university is doing, Gary Van Sise concludes. As a public university, we have to make sure that our purchases will stand the test of time: We can count on our Ikegami cameras to do just that.
