Zhenhai to be built as a design town

When speaking of Zhenhai District, people will always regard it as a strong industrial district. However in the following three years, the district will be built as a design town based in Ningbo and with a global influence, based on its traditional manufacturing. With the center of Ningbo International College Technology Park (the smart valley), the district with invest five billion yuan to build a design town with an area of 32,500 square meters in the south part of the Zhenhai new town, with the Eastern South Ring Road to the north, the Lower Baisha Road to the south, the South Wanghai Road to the west and the Outer East Ring Road to the east.

The industrial development is the base of the new design town. In 2015, Ningbo International College Technology Park introduced 171 cultural and creative enterprises (the total number reaching 690), resulting in a "creative economic agglomeration zone" dominated by design services, information services, software services, animation games, and intelligent hardware. A group of leading domestic design companies, including LKK, Moma Design, Kungfu Animation, and Pan Gongkai Construction Design Studio, take the lead in the design field.

The agglomeration of the design tycoons has brought reforms for the manufacturing. In Zhenhai District, a lot of enterprises have transformed from the "price competition" to the "design competition". A group of companies, such as Ningbo Botanical Garden, Ningbo International Medical hall and Ningbo Xiasha Gear, have reached cooperation intention with the LKK Design. "Ningbo has a solid foundation for manufacturing. We will realize the better transformation with our creativity." Said Tian Xiaofeng, General Manager of LKK (Ningbo) Design.

In December 2015, the first national open internet hacker platform attached to LKK settled down at the smart valley, serving as a global online engine for the design town. The platform will be put into operation in March 2016 to provide docking between global merchants and designers based on the big-data analysis, and other services including sampling, brand building and marketing crowdfunding.

"Ningbo Creative and Design Center" will be established in the district, integrating industrial services, exhibition and experience, design and cultivation, and element trade. The global innovator meeting to be held in June 2016 will attract great designers from home and abroad. Ningbo International Hacker Center will be established, with one or two international hacker groups introduced, to dock the mainstream crowdfunding platforms. A designer database will be established with 1000 various designers. Professional marketing teams will be hired to provide all-industrial chain resources for the introduced hackers and to promote the settlement and transfer of the projects.
