Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Northern Cape and western parts of both North-West and Free State.

Watches:

Severe thunderstorms are expected over the north-eastern parts of the North-West and extreme eastern and north-eastern parts of Free State.

Special weather advisories

Heatwave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected over the western and central parts of both Free State and North-West as well as the extreme eastern parts of the Northern Cape until at least Wednesday.

Weather forecast and UV index for all provinces Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers.

UVB sunburn index: High.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the east at first with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with scattered afternoon thunderstorms but isolated in the Lowveld where it will be very hot.

Limpopo: Cloudy in east at first with morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and hot to very hot with isolated afternoon thunderstorms, but scattered in the Western Bushveld.

North-West Province: Fine and very hot, becoming partly cloudy and hot in the east with isolated afternoon thundershowers, but scattered in the north-east.

Free State: Fine and hot, but very hot in the north-west, becoming partly cloudy in the east with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme east.

Northern Cape: Fine and warm but hot over the interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly in the morning, becoming fresh in the afternoon.

Western Cape: Cloudy and cool along the south-coast and adjacent interior in the morning becoming partly cloudy, otherwise fine and warm but hot over the eastern interior. The wind along the coast will be light in the morning becoming moderate to fresh southerly in the afternoon.

UVB index: Extreme.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy and warm south of the escarpment, but cool along the coast. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly to southerly, becoming moderate south-easterly from midday.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy and warm south of the escarpment, but cool along the coast, with evening rain over the Wild Coast and adjacent interior. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly to southerly, becoming moderate south easterly from midday.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and warm but hot in the north-east. Scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected but isolated in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly to easterly.

UVB index: Low.
