SRT Alliance Features Interoperability Demonstration of Open-Source Protocol at InfoComm 2018

CineMassive, Haivision, LiveScale, Lumens, Matrox, and Wowza solutions work together to bring high-quality, low-bitrate streaming with SRT transport protocol

Montreal 31 May 2018 Wowza Media Systems is proud to join CineMassive, Haivision, LiveScale, Lumens , and Matrox Graphics Inc. in a public Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) interoperability demonstration at the Matrox booth (#N1322) at InfoComm 2018.

SRT is an open-source transport protocol distributed freely under Mozilla Public License. It is media-agnostic and provides a wrapper around streaming content such as H.264 and other leading codecs. The SRT protocol and technology stack allows for the delivery of two-way, interactive video from anywhere with an internet connection. It focuses on performance, reliability, and security for video over IP and enables real-time IP communications as fast as User Datagram Protocol (UDP), but with the reliability of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

Ideal for high-performance video between facilities on private networks and over the internet, SRT supports Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), and provides latency transmission over bandwidth-limited, unpredictable, or unstable networks.

The SRT Alliance now has over 115 members from areas such as broadcast, professional AV, content delivery networks (CDN), online video platforms (OVP), streaming software and services, video systems developers, and systems integrators. More than 30 companies are already shipping SRT Ready products and members of the alliance are committed to implementing this royalty-free, open source protocol into their own video streaming applications, empowering them with high-performance video over any network.

At InfoComm 2018 in Las Vegas on June 6-8, Matrox is hosting an SRT Alliance pavilion in their booth N1322, demonstrating SRT open source interoperability, with the following products:

Matrox is in all areas of performance video, says Samuel Recine, director of sales Americas and Asia Pacific, Matrox Graphics Inc. But we always focus on standards, interoperability, scalability, security, and road map protection. This is true of our SMPTE 2110 efforts with uncompressed and lightly compressed video over IP. And this is true of our intelligently compressed video for high-performance, low-bitrate video over IP. The SRT Alliance is already thriving, and joint multi-vendor interoperability testing and quality assurance is just part of the march towards cloud-based and private network workflows with a next-generation, open-source video transport protocol.

Lumens Full HD PTZ IP cameras are used on-premises in AV applications and through the cloud on video management systems, conferencing software, and socialcast events, says Steven Ling, director, Lumens Integration Inc.
