Those lucky enough to catch The Visitor, the colossally insane film we billed as the sci-fi/horror epic 1979 couldnt handle, know the exact feeling of what its like to have their brains liquify and slowly drain out their ears. The Visitor, impossibly starring John Huston, Franco Nero, Lance Henriksen, Shelley Winters, Glenn Ford and Sam Peckinpah (!??!) is inarguably one of the most mind-altering cinematic experiences of the 70s, a decade already synonymous with psychedelic and psychosexual celluloid. Still dont believe us? Heres our best attempt at condensing the films hugely ambitious and feverish plot:

Another 2013 highlight for us was working with American film icon Abel Ferrara on the release of the restored, uncut version of his female revenge thriller classic Ms. 45. The film is a time capsule of nasty 80s NYC, and a uniquely feminist entry in the urban revenge thriller subgenre. A then 18-year-old Zo Lund who would later go on to co-write Ferraras masterpiece Bad Lieutenant stars as Thana, a mute garment district seamstress who, after falling victim to multiple unspeakable assaults, ignites her one-woman homicidal rampage against New York Citys entire male population.

The film combines the rabid angst of 1976s Death Wish with Roman Polanskis surreal, post-traumatic Repulsion. Its raw, shocking and complex and breaks down the barriers between arthouse and grindhouse, displaying the early talents of one of Americas most furious and uncompromising auteurs.
