Telestream has updated its live production and streaming platform Wirecase to meet requests made by users.

Among the changes is a new a back-channel chat feature in Rendezvous, which enables behind-the-scenes messaging between hosts and guests.

The latest version also supports Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) output using the Caller method with either x264 or Apple H.264 encoding.

Other updates include ProRes encoding on Windows, for both ISO recording and record to disk; performance and efficiency improvements for playback of PNG animations, and restoring the ability to easily bring audio from any application into Wirecast on a Mac.

Sony launches CineAlta Club Sony has launched a series of online and offline training courses for the cinematographers. Offline courses will happen when situation allows at Sony's Digital Media Production Centre (DMPC) at Pinewood Studios.

CineAlta Club will include three sessions run by Sony specialists and industry professionals:

Crew Call: For crews who are using VENICE cameras. An opportunity to as questions and get support from the experts. This will be hosted online.

VENICE refresher: Two-hour session will give up to date on the latest cinematography workflows and VENICE camera upgrades. This will be hosted online and in-person when allowed at the DMPC.

VENICE Accreditation: Two-day paid training course will provide DoP's, DIT's, Operators and AC's with in-depth training on VENICE cameras and production workflows to maximise on-set efficiency and creative expression. This will be hosted in-person when allowed at the DMPC.

The industry and its crew have been providing us with sensational productions in cinemas and in our homes for years, and at a time where this industry have seen its productions halted due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we want to support and provide them with new knowledge and immediate first-hand guidance as they head into their shooting season. Mo-Sys, VividQ partner on 3D holographic projections Mo-Sys and VividQ are working together on a project that enables 3D holographic projections to be placed precisely in real space.

VividQ will be able to generate holographic projection using the precision location of Mo-Sys's StarTracker technology. This can then be displayed to the user at the correct place in the real environment.

According to the companies, this is a major advance on today's AR devices where flat (stereoscopic) objects are mismatched with the real world. By presenting holographic projections with depth, the user's eyes can focus naturally as they scan the scene.
