Seville International to Launch Sales of Dystopian Dark Comedy ZOO in Berlin

Montreal February 5, 2018 In its commitment to bringing strong, independent and edgy films to audiences around the world, Seville International is pleased to announce that it has secured the worldwide rights to Antonio Tubl n's dark comedy ZOO.

From award-winning filmmaker Antonio Tubl n (ORIGINAL, LFO, ROBIN), ZOO stars Edward Speleers (The House That Jack Built, DOWNTON ABBEY), Zo Tapper (STAGE BEAUTY, AFFINITY, MR. SELFRIDGE, LIAR), Antonia Campbell-Hughes (MY Mother and Other Strangers, The Other Side of Sleep) and Jan Bijvoet (Embrace of the Serpent, BORGMAN, THE BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN). ZOO marks the fourth film for Tubl n whose first feature ORIGINAL premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and later won Best Feature at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

ZOO is produced by Alexander Br ndsted (ORIGINAL, LFO, ROBIN) through his PingPong Film outfit. Tubl n and Br ndsted teamed up in 2009 with ORIGINAL, and have been inseparable since, continuing their collaboration on ZOO. Logical Pictures, the elevated-genre financier, which recently backed REVENGE (Coralie Fargeat), INCIDENT IN A GHOSTLAND (Pascal Laugier) and FARMING (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), co-produces along with Film i Sk ne and Ystad- sterlen Film Fond.

ZOO takes us on an emotional genre bending roller coaster ride. The big story we tell in ZOO is about human behavior and how we act and react in a pandemic crisis, done in an imaginative way that only Tubl n could bring to life, said Br ndsted.

We've been looking for an elevated genre comedy since the inception of our company and we fell in love with ZOO at first pitch, added Frederic Fiore, President, Logical Pictures. Alexander and Antonio have reached the perfect balance between comedy, drama and zombies! ZOO is really a unique and original project, and we are thrilled to work on it with Seville which brings its highest standards of auteur-driven features.

ZOO is a fresh new take on how far a couple will go to save their marriage while fighting to stay alive.

In ZOO, married couple Karen and John have lost the spark of life since learning they were unable to conceive. Now, they are almost like living zombies, imprisoned by everyday life. When the world is hit by a pandemic that actually turns people in to the walking dead, the couple must lock themselves in their apartment while waiting for rescue. With the world outside falling apart, they are forced to find their way back to each other and reclaim their lost love.

The deal was brokered by Poirier on behalf for Seville International who will launch sales on ZOO at the European Film Market this month.
