2022 SAFTAs: Here are your soapie and telenovela nominees House of Zwide', Skeem Saam', The Wife' are some of the shows nominated at this years SAFTAs (South African Film and Television Awards).

The South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) revealed that e.tv's House of Zwide has been nominated for eight awards, SABC's Skeem Saam has been nominated for six awards, 1Magic's The River has been nominated for 11 awards, and Mzansi Magic's DiepCity has been nominated for 10 awards.

The nominees for the 16th ceremony was announced on the SAFTAs online channels on Thursday, 14 July and voting begins on 1 August.

ABOUT THE SAFTAS The South African Film and Television Awards were established in 2005 to honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African Film and Television talent and productions, according to the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa (NFVF).

The publication adds that the awards serve to encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent within the industry and each award recipient is presented with the Golden Horn' trophy.

The Golden Horn' has three heads symbolising collective effort, community, and the recognition of the individual as part of a team - an experience inherent to the film and television industry where collaboration is the cornerstone of successful productions.
