It is always important for us as believers to discover the will of God for our life. What is His will and how will we discover it? Is His will something that is hidden from us or is it something very much obvious? Photo: PEXELS

It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What a profound truth! A realization that eases the grip of life on man surrendering to God in all things. Partake in this feast as we consume food for the soul, nourishing the spirit in Breaking Bread. It is Monday, 21st November 2022.

WHAT IS THE WILL OF GOD? In Romans 12:2 it is written: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is his good, pleasing and perfect will. It is always important for us as believers to discover the will of God for our life. What is His will and how will we discover it? Is His will something that is hidden from us or is it something very much obvious?

The good news is that God reveals himself to us when we seek Him. His will gets revealed to us in prayer through the power of the Holy Spirit. We will never fully understand God's will for us but He has given us ways to ensure us that we are in His will.

In Matthew 6:10 Jesus taught the disciples to pray for God's will to be done: Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven . The will of God consists of the many things that are in line with His plan and purpose for our lives today. This means what God wants for us and he will communicate it to us through His Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us that the will of God will never allow that none would perish (2 Peter 3:9). This means that God wants salvation for all of us. He will reveal His will to us when we truly seek Him.

God still comes to us as he came to Noah, Abraham, Moses and many others and speaks to us through prayer and through His Word. He wants us to adjust our lives to Him and He wants to see His will lived out in us.

Micah 6:8 teaches us that God's will for us is to be humble, merciful and just. This is not something mystical but things that we should and need to do to understand and do His will. We must also understand and accept that His will might not look like our will. The most astonishing example of this comes from Jesus Himself on the night when He was betrayed. The life of Jesus was so much tuned in to God that He was prepared to set aside His own life and accept the work that God was about to do through Him.

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us (1 John 5:14) . We must pray in confidence for God's will to be done in our lives. We must ask Him to reveal Him through His Holy Spirit through prayer.

Let us first seek to know God deeply, and when we know Him, our lives will adjust naturally in the direction of His will.

PRAYER We pray for an intimate relationship with You our God. We pray for our faith to be strengthened, that our hearts be deeply rooted in the truth that is only found in Christ. We pray that our minds would be fully renewed by Your love and mercy. Amen.

Daar is drie vlakke waarop die wil van God gedoen kan word, naamlik:

Om God se wil te doen, moet ons vanaf n ongeredde lewe af inkom na n lewe wat bekering vereis.

Dit is God se goeie wil dat ons gered moet word. In Handelinge 17:30 staan daar: God het dan die tye van onkunde oorgesien en verkondig nou aan al die mense oral dat hulle hul moet bekeer . Ons moet God se wil doen en n lid word van Sy familie. Dit is God se versoek, begeerte en opdrag aan almal van ons.

Om God se wil te doen,moet n heilige, diensbare en God welgevallige lewe lei.

In Romeine 12:1-2 word ons opgeroep om ons lewe as n lewende, heilige en aan God welgevallige offer te gee. Die wil van God is immers dat ons in heiligmaking moet lewe.

Soek na die volmaakte wil van die Here-

Wanneer ons na die volmaakte wil van God soek moet ons duidelikheid kry oor ons roeping,en die beste manier waarop dit uitgeleef kan word. Paulus se: Ek vermaan julle dan om te wandel waardig die roeping waarmee julle geroep is''.(Effesiers4:1)

Ons moet bid dat die Heilige Gees ons met krag sal versterk sodat ons instaat kan wees om die volmaakte wil van God uit te kan leef elke dag van ons lewe.

GEBED Dankie Vader dat ons weet dat U wil nie ons wil is nie. Dankie dat ons uit Jesus kon leer om ons wil eenkant te plaas en U wil toe laat om gestalte te neem. Dankie dat U ons die geleentheid bied om U wil te aanvaar en te respekteer. Amen.
