On Monday 29 August, 17-time Grammy-winning musician Sting announced that he has added South African tour dates to his tour schedule for February 2023. Unfortunately for SA, Sting's tour dates clash with American pop-rock band Imagine Dragons who are also scheduled to perform in Mzansi in February 2023. The conflicting tour dates have left South Africans fuming on social media.

STING AND IMAGINE DRAGONS TO PERFORM ON SAME DATES In June, it was reported that US band Imagine Dragons would be performing in South Africa for their Mercury world tour in 2023.

The band announced that they would be performing in Cape Town at the DHL Stadium on Wednesday 1 February and in Johannesburg at the FNB Stadium on Saturday 4 February 2023.

Just two months after the announcement, Sting shared that he would be performing in South Africa in 2023. The Englishman in New York hitmaker announced a Cape Town performance for 1 February at the Grand West Arena and a Pretoria performance for 4 February at the SunBet Arena.

The conflicting tour dates mean that fans in the Western Cape and Gauteng would have to decide which artists to see

FANS ARE LEFT UPSET Taking to Twitter, fans have expressed their disappointment with concert organisers for scheduling performances from Imagine Dragons and Sting on the same days.

Help I just saw that the legendary Sting is coming to South Africa but he s going to perform on the exact same dates for the respective cities as Imagine Dragons

MORE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCES Grammy winners Imagine Dragons and Sting are not the only international artists set to perform in Mzansi soon.

Canadian sensation Justin Bieber is set to kick off the South African leg of his tour on 28 September. The Lumineers perform in Cape Town at the Grand Arena on 29 and 30 November. Tickets for their Pretoria show on 2 December are sold out.
