Thin Air Broadcasting provides a one stop, comprehensive satellite uplink and SNG service to the broadcast, production and corporate television industries. Equipped with the pairing of Adtec's EN-81 encoder and RD-60 decoder, Thin Air Broadcasting now has the only UK based SNG truck with the capability to provide HD MPEG4/H.264 encoding with up to 32 APSK modulation and 16 channels of audio. I first learned of Adtec Digital from recommendations on LinkedIn forums where their reputation for excellent customer service was touted time and time again. The EN-81 encoder/modulator is designed especially for Tier 1 satellite, ASI/fiber and IP contribution and DSNG applications. It offers HD and SD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC encoding and boasts 16 channels of audio. The RD-60 receiver/decoder supports MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 platforms with 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 HD and SD decoding. It boasts 16 channels of audio, including MPEG-1 Layer 2, Dolby AC3/5.1, HE-AAC, AAC-LC audio decoding.
When asked about the motivation behind his upgrade to Adtec Digital equipment, Smallwood explains, Many clients are moving to MPEG4, HD, and DVBS2. I'm future-proofing our operation for the move to MPEG4 4:2:2, higher order modulation schemes (16APSK / 32APSK), and the move from Dobly-E audio distribution to 16 discrete channels. I believe we have made the best choice for the needs of our company in order to compete in a highly competitive environment and stay one step ahead of the competition in a rapidly evolving market.
