Digital Alert Systems Releases Version 6 1 Software for D...

Update Strengthens Access Controls, Refines EAS-Net , and Adds SSL-Based CAP Canada Support

Digital Alert Systems, a global leader in emergency communications solutions for media providers, today announced the release of Version 6.1 software for its DASDEC -III emergency messaging platforms. The second release in the Version 6 series adds tighter user-session controls, OpenID Connect (OIDC) configuration enhancements for single sign-on, EAS-Net reliability improvements, and SSL-based CAP Canada support. Building on the modernized operating platform introduced with Version 6 in March, the update continues the emphasis on security and long-term support.

New FCC cybersecurity requirements for EAS Participants, including radio and television broadcasters and cable operators, took effect on Sept. 29, 2026. The rules require these operators to install security patches and security-related software and firmware updates from equipment manufacturers promptly after they become available. Testing is permitted, provided it begins promptly. The rules also call for strong passwords and a network firewall or comparable segmentation that limits remote management access.

Version 6.1 includes the current security updates for the DASDEC-III platform. DASDEC devices connect to FEMA IPAWS over the Internet to receive alerts, which makes access control and current software central to a facility's security posture. Stronger access controls and up-to-date software reduce the likelihood that a unit is open to compromise, either directly or as an attack vector into a facility network.

Version 6.1 highlights include:

Access Controls: Tighter controls over user sessions, including who can adjust permissions, plus OIDC configuration enhancements for single-sign-on environments.

Canadian Alerting Support: SSL-based CAP Canada support to accommodate changes to the country's secure alert-data feed.

EAS-Net Improvements: Enhanced reliability and event-file management.

Operational Refinements: Refined MPEG DASH operation, along with improvements to EAS-Net decoding, audio sampling, CAP status reporting, and other station functions.

Version 6.1 continues our focus on making the DASDEC-III the most robust and cyber-secure EAS device available, said Bill Robertson, vice president of business development at Digital Alert Systems. Customers should install this release promptly, and our Canadian customers will want the new SSL-based CAP Canada support right away.

The update runs on DASDEC-III platforms and is the most current software release available for them. Customers already running Version 6 receive Version 6.1 at no cost as an in-version update. Those customers can download the update from the company's website using their Version 6 password. Customers enrolled in the company's Software Assurance Plan, those who have purchased a new DASDEC, or those who have participated in the company's UP TRADE program since October 2025 also receive Version 6.1 at no cost. Pricing for other users depends on how far back the current software revision is and whether the hardware is compatible. Units running Version 5.4 can upgrade directly to Version 6.1, while those on Version 5.2 or earlier may require an intermediate step. Customers who need password assistance, pricing, or upgrade instructions should contact the factory (support@digitalalertsystems.com) and include their unit's serial number.

Digital Alert Systems has also released Version 5.6 software for DASDEC -II platforms, which includes some of the same improvements, along with the security updates that help users remain in step with current FCC rules. Customers running DASDEC-III platforms are encouraged to move to Version 6.
