
The All England Lawn Tennis Club and IBM have introduced new and enhanced digital fan features for The Championships, Wimbledon 2026, with AI-powered tools available through the Wimbledon app and wimbledon.com.
The new capabilities are powered by IBM watsonx and are part of a broader modernization and redesign of Wimbledon's digital platforms. According to the All England Club and IBM, the updated app and website are designed to deliver a more seamless and personalized experience for global tennis fans, while also creating a new digital foundation for future fan engagement.
Among the new features is Key Moments, a tool that builds on Wimbledon's live Likelihood to Win feature. Likelihood to Win calculates each player's probability of victory using AI-powered analysis of current and historical statistics, expert opinion, and match momentum. Key Moments adds greater context by explaining which plays are influencing the direction of a match and why.
Available for each gentlemen's and ladies' singles match, Key Moments is designed to help fans better understand momentum swings and the reasoning behind the AI-powered probability model.
Wimbledon and IBM have also enhanced Match Chat, an AI assistant built to serve as an interactive companion during matches. Fans can ask natural-language questions such as What has happened in the match so far? and receive conversational responses based on live match data, analysis, and historical performance information. Some responses will now include relevant photos and video for added context.
Built on watsonx Orchestrate, Match Chat uses a collection of AI agents and fit-for-purpose models trained on Wimbledon's editorial style and tennis terminology.
The fan-facing tools are supported by a broader modernization of Wimbledon's digital infrastructure. IBM and the All England Club redesigned the platform based on research into how fans, players, broadcasters, media, and other users engage with Wimbledon's digital ecosystem. The project included improved data architecture, more streamlined user journeys, and tailored audience experiences.
A major part of the modernization effort involved moving Wimbledon's content archive to a new architecture, including more than 15,000 digital assets such as articles, videos, photographs, and related metadata. IBM Bob, an AI-powered development accelerator, was used to build a knowledge graph mapping content relationships and to develop AI-driven workflows that translated the archive structure into the new platform.
According to IBM, work that could traditionally require a team of four or five specialists over several months was completed by one engineer in four weeks, with the targeted 15,000 assets extracted in 47 minutes.

The All England Club and IBM have worked together for more than 35 years, beginning with the launch of the Wimbledon website in 1995 and the mobile app in 2009. Wimbledon first integrated enhanced AI-powered solutions in 2017.

The new fan experiences, combined with the modernization of Wimbledon's platforms using IBM watsonx and IBM Bob, are an example of how organizations can use AI not only to deepen engagement, but also to accelerate innovation and unlock new levels of operational efficiency.
According to the All England Club, Wimbledon saw a 16% year-over-year increase in engagement across all platforms in 2025, along with 39% growth in users registered to myWIMBLEDON.
