AfriDocs Presents Football In February

Join AfriDocs for a feast of football films this February, including the ever-entertaining Football Rebels series that profiles the likes of Didier Drogba, Rachid Mekhloufi, and S crates. These engaging and entertaining stories are about more than just the game but also about the power of the football and footballers to overcome violence, war and hardship.

Nigeria is also in the spotlight this month with Portrait of a Lone Farmer, a feature documentary about a Danish-Nigerian family torn apart by geography. This beautiful and evocative film speaks to the heartache of migration and separation.

Like football, music also has the power to heal and unite, AfriDocs presents two feature documentaries that highlight the power of music and dance.

Indonesia's Jalanan (Streetside) tells the captivating story of Boni, Ho & Titi, three gifted, charismatic street musicians in Jakarta over a tumultuous 5-year period in their own lives and that of Indonesia.

AfriDocs also presents the hugely popular Shake The Dust, a film that chronicles the influence of breakdancing, exploring how it strikes a resonant chord in the slums, favelas and ghettos of the world and far beyond.

Portrait of a Lone Farmer is a feature documentary about a Danish-Nigerian family torn apart by geography. When the filmmaker Jide, for the first time in five years, travels to Nigeria to re-connect with his father, we see through his camera the unfolding of a story about family, love, and legacy. It is a quiet and stunning portrait of a broken family trying to heal, one in which the drama occurs in their mutual understanding.
