HP to Spotlight Debate on Privacy vs. Security During Keynote at HP Protect 2015Annual conference to bring together former director of the NSA and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist to address protection of privacy vs. data; HP Executives and Industry leaders to share insights on the changing security landscape

PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 10, 2015 HP today announced the lineup of keynote speakers and technically focused breakout sessions for its annual enterprise security user conference, HP Protect 2015, taking place Sept. 1-4 in National Harbor, Md.

HP Protect 2015 will bring together nearly 1,700 security professionals to network, collaborate and share intelligence around the evolving threat landscape and the challenges and opportunities that face their organizations when addressing security. Headlining the conference will be former director of the NSA, General Keith Alexander (Ret.), and journalist Glenn Greenwald, whose opposing views on privacy vs. security will be debated during the keynote session.

In addition to keynote presentations that address the changed security landscape, attendees will have the opportunity to select from over 200 technical breakout sessions led by HP executives and industry experts to gain insight into the latest trends in data security and encryption, as well as network, software and information security.

HP Protect 2015 General Session and Privacy versus Security Panel

At the general session on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 9 to 11 a.m. ET, HP and industry experts will discuss the evolving security landscape and the latest trends in security software. Speakers will include:

HP executives will kick off the general session with a discussion around the future of security and its focus as a key transformation area within the new Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Mike Armistead, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Security Products, ArcSight, will draw from more than two decades of software security experience to discuss the new school of cybersecurity and how organizations must shift to a security approach that protects the interactions between users, interactions and data. Security analytics play a critical role in this new approach, and he will also demonstrate new analytics tools from HP that will help organizations better detect threats and reduce the impact of a breach.

General Keith Alexander (Ret.), former director of the NSA, and journalist Glenn Greenwald, widely known for writing a series of reports detailing U.S. surveillance programs based on classified documents disclosed by Edward Snowden, will participate in a discussion on privacy versus security. These two opposing voices will debate the right balance between protecting the data of your enterprise and protecting the privacy of your people.

Nate Silver, renowned statistician and founder of the award-winning FiveThirtyEight website, will focus on the changed security landscape, as discussed in his bestselling book The Signal and the Noise, in which the world we're protecting is no longer within the walls of the enterprise.

HP Protect 2015 examines the adversary landscape

In a series of nearly 200 breakout technical sessions, attendees will also hear from HP Enterprise Security executives, researchers, customers and partners on how to best protect organizations by sharing insight into adversary trends and the latest tools to stay one step ahead. Attendees will have the chance to see first-hand how enemies function in a live walk through of the Bad Guy Lair in the HP Protect CyberSecurity Hall.

Furthermore, as data analytics continue to change the security game, attendees will learn about the latest technologies from HP and how analytics will strengthen enterprise security posture as adversaries advance their tactics. At the conference, HP will announce new offerings from across its portfolio of products and security research arm that enable customers to embrace innovation while managing risk and improving security postures within their organizations.
