Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF), a US-based professional volleyball women's league, is aiming to bring more to its live broadcasts for its second season, using advanced production, real time customization, and intelligent distribution technologies. Partnering once again with LTN, PVF, which is championing the highest standards of women's volleyball and driving the growth of the sport, has announced a partnership delivering live video production enhancements and expanded distribution across linear broadcast and streaming services in 2025.
Enhanced production Following its highly successful inaugural season with almost 400,000 fans in attendance and millions of online viewers, the league is harnessing a modular suite of LTN's intelligent IP video transport, live video production, and live event versioning technologies to reach fast-growing audiences on major broadcast networks and digital platforms, including CBS, Fox Sports, and Roku.
On what LTN previously provided to PVF, and how and why it has enhanced it this year, Colin Moran, LTN VP of production products, says Last year, LTN provided REMI production services to PVF during the 2024 opening season. This year, we've strengthened our partnership by offering comprehensive production services that span both linear and digital formats.
This enhancement allows PVF to work with a streamlined production partner, enabling them to create diverse versions of their events and reach a wider audience with a consistent product offering.
On the challenges of providing an end to end service for PVF, Moran comments: A key challenge we encounter is the league's variety of venues across the United States, which differ significantly in size and configuration. To tackle this, LTN ensures that our transport network effectively connects multiple locations for each workflow.
We address this challenge by harnessing the power and flexibility of the LTN transport network, which provides reliable and redundant connections for both single and multiple-path events, he notes.
LTN provides PVF with a comprehensive suite of on-site and remote live video production services backed by ultra-reliable IP video transmission, enabling a nine-camera centralised production from LTN's state-of-the-art production facility and technical operations centre
Intelligent automation LTN provides PVF with a comprehensive suite of on-site and remote live video production services backed by ultra-reliable IP video transmission, enabling a nine-camera centralised production from LTN's state-of-the-art production facility and technical operations centre (TOC) in Kansas City, US.
LTN handles every element of complex sports production challenges, providing intelligent signal ingest, custom graphics, audio mixing, video switching, replay, and on-site announcer integration, reliably preparing and delivering all televised events for major national broadcast and global streaming partners via the LTN network.
Alongside producing primary live event feeds for broadcast partners CBS, Fox Sports and Roku, PVF's partnership with LTN deepens to drive unprecedented scale and efficiency in digital distribution.
As to what is the future for intelligent automation, Moran gazes into his crystal ball and predicts. The future of intelligent automation looks promising. LTN currently employs various data forms to automate workflows, creating significant operational efficiencies for our partners.
Looking ahead, the ability to integrate multiple data streams and effectively parse that information will be crucial in driving the evolution of automation. This advancement will not only enhance production capabilities but also deliver broader business benefits in terms of efficiency and monetisation, he concludes.
LTN's live event versioning solution, LTN Arc, provides PVF with a range of modular customization technologies to seamlessly create tailored versions of live event feeds to meet the diverse formatting, audio, and monetization requirements of digital platforms. A unique combination of best-in-class managed video infrastructure and automated, modular technology enables audio mixing with natural sound, remote announcer integration, scorebug graphics, watermarks, and video slating during key moments, powering platform-tailored distribution and limitless audience reach via YouTube.
Growing league After launching in 2024 with recordbreaking attendance numbers, broadcast coverage with CBS Sports Network, and YouTube viewing figures surpassing 3.9 million, PVF's expanded and extended 2025 season opened on 9 January, bringing live coverage from San Diego Mojo's clash with the Orlando Valkyries to FS2 audiences.
