Gqeberha: The Empire viewers are fed up with the telenovela and urge Mnet to cancel it soon.

GQEBERHA: THE EMPIRE IS TERRIBLE' Viewers of the Mzansi Magic telenovela Gqeberha: The Empire took to social media this week to share their frustrations about the telenovela's bland storylines.

Entertainment commentator Jabu McDonald tweeted: #GqeberhaTheEmpire really has potential and they do have a good cast but the storylines and entire production is not good, it's disappointing to have a show that keeps on getting worse every day. This show needs a production break or be cancelled. As a viewer it discourages you to continue watching because there's no improvement.

Zimoja revealed on Tuesday, 18 July that the isiXhosa telenovela may be coming to an end, while Phil Mphela also announced in July that the Eastern Cape-based telenovela will not be renewed for another season when its current one ends.

Mnet rubbished reports that the show is coming to an end on Wednesday, 19 July.

SOAPIE VIEWERS: ANATHI'S BELLY IS A SOCCER BALL' Mzansi Magic fans are also disappointed with actress Akhenime Mfenyane's character Anathi, who is pregnant with Thulani's (Tembinkosi Ngcukana) baby.

Audiences feel disrespected by the show and feel the production doesn't take them seriously as Anathi's baby bump resembles a soccer ball.

There s nothing he can do. The character is badly written. This is why Hlomla Dandala left The River. Playing a dumb character must be frustrating. Everyone around him is scheming. And he can t see it. But he s supposed to be this big self made mogul. Unrealistic

Oh wow! Actually. What an interesting take on this. And I couldn t agree more. Mbulelo Grootboom is an amazing actor, but this is pure disrespect.

That scene where he was beating up Thulani before tying them up on the boat, I could tell it was pure torture for him
