iWedia HLS Client Allows Getting the Best Out of Broadpeaks nanoCDN Technology Lausanne, Switzerland - September 9, 2016 - iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices to service operators and consumer electronics manufacturers, today announced that its HLS client has been integrated with the nanoCDN technology of Broadpeak, a leading provider of content delivery network (CDN) technologies and live and video-on-demand (VOD) servers for cable, IPTV, OTT, hybrid TV, and mobile operators worldwide. The announcement was made at IBC 2016, which is being held in Amsterdam from Friday, September 9th through to Tuesday, September 13th. Both Broadpeak (hall 5, booth B72) and iWedia (hall 5, booth B40) exhibit at the show where the integrated solution will be demonstrated.

Broadpeak's award-winning nanoCDN technology enables operators to extend their CDN into the home network, leveraging equipment such as broadband gateways, STBs and cable modems. Through the power of multicast, nanoCDN makes live HTTP video delivery to any device truly scalable, turning millions of broadband gateways or STBs into active components of an operator's content delivery infrastructure. nanoCDN implements multicast support for most popular ABR (Adaptive Bit Rate) formats, guaranteeing a superior quality of service.

iWedia has developed an HLS client software specifically designed to enhance the robustness of the live TV use cases and to improve the zapping time and support to trick modes. This client software has been tuned to fit with Broadpeak's nanoCDN agent with the aim of reducing latency in optimizing the video buffer size.

Pay TV operators increasingly rely on the http protocol for video distribution. However performances issues may happen with this type of delivery protocol, says Jacques Le Mancq, CEO at Broadpeak.
