The Rory Peck Trust announced the finalists for its annual awards Sponsored by Sony, these awards honour the work of the photojournalists in the field of news and today.
The Foundation Rory Peck has announced this Monday the names of the finalists of them awards Rory Peck 2016 sponsored by Sonythey honour the work of the photojournalists in the field of news and today. The nominees of this year include finalists novice and veteran from of eight countries, among which stand out reporters independent of Syria and the United Kingdom.
The feature stories of this year are those of refugees and migrants. The finalist in the category of news, Will Vassilopoulos, and the finalists in the category of best feature story, frame Salustro and Lottie Gammon, tell us stories of despair, detention and abduction in Greece, Libya, and Macedonia, respectively.
The journalists independent Syrian and Yemeni that live and work in the heart of the conflict are finalists in the category of news by the intense material that have retrieved in the first line of the combat. The finalists in the category Sony Impact Marcel Mettelsiefen and Ben Steele explore, poignantly, the resilience of families and children rebuild their lives devastated by the conflict in Syria and by the ebola in Sierra Leone, through masterful filming that, ultimately, give us hope.
The work of the finalists of this year demonstrates very clearly that independent professionals are at the forefront of the news and today, reveal stories that make up the global agenda, inform us, challenging our perceptions and inspire us to act . His curiosity, courage and dedication is inspiring, said Tina Carr, Director of the Foundation Rory Peck. "But given that journalists from around the world are still in the spotlight, independent professionals are the most vulnerable: many of them still work alone, without any support."
