Proudly SA! Grammy nod for SA music trio's Bayethe'Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode have scored their first Grammy Award nod, along with past winner Wouter Kellerman.

South African musicians Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode have been nominated for a Grammy Award in the best global performance category alongside flautist, producer and composer Wouter Kellerman.

The talented trio's collaboration, Bayethe, will be competing with songs by Burna Boy, Matt B, Arooj Aftab, Anoushka Shankar and Rocky Dawuni.

Kellerman won his first Grammy in 2015 Winds of Samsara as Best New Age Album, and this marks his fourth nomination.

Beyonc , Adele and Harry Styles lead the nomination pack for the 65th annual Grammy Awards which is set to take place on 5 February at the Crypto.com Arena, in Los Angeles.

Bayethe' nominated for Grammy Award

Zikode dedicates Grammy nomination to female African musos Speaking to SowetanLIVE from Nice, in France, an elated Zikode shared her Grammy nomination with all female African musicians. The 37-year-old singer who shot to fame with Master KG's Jerusalema hit, also expressed the hope that the nomination would open doors to more international collaborations.

This nomination means a lot to me because an accolade such as this puts African female artists on the map as a whole and I'm grateful that I happened to be the one to hold the torch.

Right now, I'm about to do a show at the Opera de Nice and then heading to Jerusalem next week. My time in America and other parts of the world has been amazing, my band and I performed at carnivals in Miami, Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Bahamas. In all of this, I also received the keys to the city from the mayor of Miami so these past few months have been very exciting yet humbling.

Two-week wonder From left, Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebe According to SowetanLIVE, Osama hitmaker and producer Bantwini explained that it was Kellerman who approached him and Zikode to collaborate on a new song. The trio hit the studio and completed the song in only two weeks.
