Ninghai with Abundant Green Energy

Supporting infrastructure for Ninghai Pumped-Storage Power Stationstarted the construction on September 13. The power station with a total investment of 8 billion yuan is estimated to generate electricity with an annual output of 2.4 billion kilowatt-hours.Given the peak-valley difference of power supply, the power station is to further accommodate the great demand during the on-peak time and tackle the power supply overload problem at a provincial level.

The 8-billion power station project is to promote Ninghai's energy and industrial structure transformation through developing the new energy industry. In 2011, Ninghai was the first county in Zhejiang Province to carry out the Energy Development Strategy Action Plan at the county level. In pursuit of building a Green Energy Demonstration County, Ninghai started developing clean energy, enhancing powergrid and promoting the energy equipment industry and have put forth projects on harnessing the wind, solar, gas, hydro and tidal energy. NinghaiChashan Wind Farm, one of the largest wind farms in Zhejiang Province, with an annual output of 140 million kilowatt-hours and CGN Ninghai Wind Farm with an annual output of 92.42 million kilowatt-hours have been constructed and put into operation. The two wind farms contribute to the economic benefits of 160 million yuan per year. Recently, the construction of the largest provincial photovoltaic power station with an installed capacity of 99 megawatts has been half completed. The total investment for new energy development in Ninghai is estimated to surpass 50 billion yuanfor the next ten years.

New energy industry fosters eco-city. Ninghai is under way of turning a blueprint of 8000-mu Zhuifengzhulang Eco-Town into reality in Xiayangtu sea area in the east ofNinghai. With the development of new energy industry as its core, including photovoltaic, wind and tidal energy, the eco-town invites related projects, such as clean power generation and photovoltaic component manufacturing. The project on developing new energy industry will promote the city construction in like cultural tourism development and infrastructure construction.One of the streets in Dajiahe Town (part of the eco-town) has been upgraded with wind solar hybrid streetlights, saving at least 70,000 kilowatt-hours annually.
