Rocky Mount Mills Pitches in for Here to Help with Big Results

Rocky Mount Mills partnered with Tarboro Brewing Company for a benefit concert starring Randy McQuay for CBCs Here to Help for those affected by Hurricane Florence. The concert took place on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

Rocky Mount Mills partnered with its Capitol Broadcasting Company family with Here to Help, Hurricane Relief in every way the mill could.

What better way than a food drive, two evenings of great music, delicious beer and food all the while helping our neighbors who are being impacted by Hurricane Florence?

Randy McQuay, a storyteller, bluesman and a master interpreter of modern American roots music, is from Wilmington and Rocky Mount Mills welcomed him and his family to stay in one of the Village homes until they were able to return home.

On Tuesday night, September 18, 2018, Rocky Mount Mills partnered with Tarboro Brewing Company (TBC) to kick off the first night of the hurricane relief efforts. TBC hosted Randy McQuay and donated proceeds of each pint sold; Get A Piz-za This food truck was on site with a portion of proceeds going to the effort, and Cotton Press printed Carolina Strong t-shirts to sell where all proceeds were donated to Here to Help.

Wednesday, Rocky Mount Mills served as a drop off location for Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Randy McQuay performed again live in the Beer Garden at Rocky Mount Mills on Wednesday. RMM continued to take donations, filling up the U-Haul. And a portion of sales from Rocky Mount Mills' campus tenants Koi Pond Brewing Company, TBC West: Taproom & Tacos, Goat Island Bottle Shop, BDD Brewing Company, HopFly Brewing Company and Planetary Elixirs was donated to hurricane relief; and it was great night of blues, craft beer and food all while helping our neighbors affected from Florence.

The totals: Items collected were delivered to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolinas Greenville warehouse Friday and all 5,500lbs will be distributed as Hurricane Florence relief efforts. Along with filling that U-Haul, RMM had an unexpected amount of financial donations, totaling over $5,800.

Rocky Mount, Tarboro and local communities have been impacted by hurricanes and flooding in history with Hurricane Floyd and Matthew to reference two major devastating hurricanes to the area, said RMM Event Services & Marketing Manager Julie Baggett. We were fortunate this time during Hurricane Florence and the community truly showed their love by coming out to support a great cause.
