PlayBox and Matech Celebrate Succeful Collaboration at Broadcast Asia 04

PlayBox joined with Masstech Group for a highly successful collaborative display at Broadcast Asia 2014, held in Singapore, June 17-20. This event saw the first Asian demonstration of the world's leading integrated playout system for broadcasters.

Broadcast Asia this year saw our most comprehensive demonstrations ever, with both Masstech and Object Matrix integrating their solutions with PlayBox, says Desmon Goh, PlayBox Technology Asia Pacific Country Manager. Our regional dealers and customers were excited by the expanded Masstech/PlayBox range, particularly those who didnt get to the NAB show in April. The combined solution enables the industry's first workflows that fully integrate world class, automated playout and asset management.

Visitors had the opportunity to experience the new Masstech for Enterprise HTML5-based interface that puts cross-platform content search, viewing, frame-accurate video editing, and media management at users' fingertips so they get more done, in less time. Also on display was Masstech for News, which enhances Avid iNews, AP ENPS, Ross Inception and any MOS-enabled NRCS with its exclusive Video Follows Text advantage. Masstech for News automates archiving, eliminates fees for adding storage, integrates media and archive management directly within the NRCS and streamlines the movement of content between legacy MAMs, production systems, different NRCS systems and multiple newsrooms.

CaptureBox PRO, from Playbox, made its first Broadcast Asia appearance. This system allows multiple channels of HD or SD content to be captured from HD/SD SDI digital feeds, analogue sources and MPEG transport streams. Four video sources can be monitored on a single screen and controlled via a new streamlined user interface.

Also demonstrated was the latest version of the PlayBox Technology AirBox which provides automated content playout for satellite channels, cable head-ends, over-the-air broadcasters and corporate TV users. The new version incorporates a GPU-enhanced graphics mixing engine which allows video rotation effects and depth-order laying effects to be performed in real time. Logo animation facilities are also added for applications such as titling, captioning or channel branding. The audio capabilities of AirBox are expanded with support now provided for Dolby E and Dolby Digital Plus.

Another PlayBox Technology product making its Broadcast Asia debut was the TimeShiftBox Duo time zone offset server. This provides all the resources needed to perform accurate time offsets for any duration ranging from 10 seconds to more than one month. High bit-rate MPEG-2 4:2:2 I-frame compression ensures the maintenance of optimal video quality. TimeShiftBox is fully transparent to audio and ancillary data carried in the SDI stream. Character generation and graphics facilities are available as options.
