Applications Open for the Juanes Scholarship

The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation is accepting applications for the Juanes Scholarship, a four-year scholarship towards a bachelors degree at Berklee College of Music. The scholarship, which holds a maximum value of $200,000, is available for exceptionally talented students with financial needs interested in pursuing careers in Latin music.

A global Latin rock ambassador and champion for social change, Juanes has been featured on Times list of the 100 most influential people in the world, and is the only artist with two top-five songs on Billboards list of the 50 best Latin songs of all time. Hailed by the New York Times as Latin Americas hottest singer-songwriter...a soulful poet with electric guitar, Juanes has earned 12 no. 1 U.S. singles and has made dozens of television appearances, including the Latin Grammys telecast, the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, and The Tonight Show. He has been recognized with two Grammy Awards, 23 Latin Grammys, and the 2019 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year award for his creative artistry, unprecedented humanitarian efforts, support for rising artists, and philanthropic contributions to the global community.

It really means a great deal to me that I can contribute to helping a young musician fulfill the dream of pursuing a serious music education, said Juanes. When I was young, I often dreamed of studying music in a world-class program, but like many young people with that dream in their heart, I did not have the resources at the time. Ive been a strong advocate ever since for music education opportunities at all levels, and it brings me a lot of joy to now know that my years of hard work and long relationship with the Latin Recording Academy will help the talents of a next-generation artist grow at one of the best music schools in the world, Berklee.

Presented by the Latin Grammy Foundation, the Juanes Scholarship (also known as the Prodigy Scholarship) was created in an effort to support music education and the Latin music genre, and will be awarded to a student who is exceptionally gifted and needs financial assistance to continue their education. The applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, which comprises diverse music professionals with extensive industry experience. Previous artists who have cosponsored schoarships to attend Berklee include Enrique Iglesias (2015), Juan Luis Guerra (2016), Miguel Bos (2017), Carlos Vives (2018), Emilio and Gloria Estefan (2019), and Julio Iglesias (2020).

We are pleased and grateful to kick off our seventh year of giving with the generosity of Juanes, said Manolo D az, senior vice president of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation. Year after year, we are amazed at the support and commitment of our donors who, through their aid, forge the next generation of Latin music creators.
