Four Berklee Alumni Nominated for Emmy Awards

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences nominated four Berklee alumni, including Berklee Valencia Program Director Pablo Mungu a B.M. '97 and 2019 commencement honoree Alex Lacamoire B.M. '95 19H, for five Emmy awards. They were recognized for their musical and sound mixing contributions to some of television's biggest programs and events, including the Academy Awards, the Grammy Awards, Game of Thrones, Barry, and Fosse/Verdon.

A lauded composer, producer, orchestrator, and musical director, Lacamoire received a nomination for Outstanding Musical Direction for the FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon. The series reunited Lacamoire with his Hamilton and In The Heights director Tommy Kail; it was also produced by his longtime collaborator and friend Lin-Manuel Miranda.

One of todays most prominent film and television composers, Ramin Djawadi B.M. 98 is nominated for his seventh Emmy in the category of Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score), which he won last year. He composed the music for HBO's megahit series Game of Thrones; this nomination is for the third episode of the final season, The Long Night. While visiting Boston on the Game of Thrones national tour in February 2017, Djawadi met with a group of 60 Berklee students to discuss his contributions to some of the biggest programs currently on television. He also personally donated 114 tickets to the TD Garden concert to students and selected faculty.

Elmo Ponsdomenech 83 took home an Emmy last year for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation for his work as a rerecording mixer on Barry, and is nominated in the category again this year.

Mungu a received an Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special in 2017 for his work as a Pro Tools mixer for the 59th Grammy Awards. He is nominated in the category twice, as a prerecorded music mixer and supervisor for this years Grammys and Academy Awards broadcast.

The 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 22, at 8:00 p.m. on Fox.
