Virginia Lazalde-McPherson Joins truTV as Senior Vice President of Busine Affairs-

Virginia Lazalde-McPherson has been named senior vice president of business affairs for truTV. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing business affairs for truTV, including the brokering of series development and production deals, as well as on-air talent engagements. Additionally, Lazalde-McPherson supervises the business affairs staff and serves as an advisor to the network's executives. She is based in New York and reports to Sandra Dewey, executive vice president, head of business affairs for Turner Entertainment Networks and Cartoon Network Originals.

Lazalde-McPherson comes to truTV from MTV, where she served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel. In this capacity, she was the lead deal maker for MTV, MTV2 and MTVU branded networks for all aspects of their businesses, including, programming development and production, marketing and promotion, integrated marketing, ad sales and digital. While at MTV, she also served as head of music strategy, responsible for negotiating and drafting global music rights agreements for MTV, VH1, CMT and Logos linear and digital platforms.

Virginias terrific work on behalf of MTV and the strength of her reputation in the industry makes her a perfect choice for this important position, said Dewey. Not only is she one of the most respected negotiators in the business, but she also has abundant experience putting together deals with the top producers of young adult programming. Prior to joining MTV in 2000, Lazalde-McPherson served as director of business affairs for Sony Music (1995-2000) and as a lawyer for Lavely & Singer (1993-1995). She holds a bachelors degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. She has been a member of the California bar since 1993 and the New York bar since 1995.
