Adobe has unveiled a host of updates to its tools, including Premiere Pro and Frame.io.

The company has announced the beta availability of Premiere Pro's first set of video editing workflows powered by its generative machine learning model Firefly.

Generative Extend (beta) enables video professionals to extend clips to cover gaps in footage, smooth out transitions and hold on shots longer for perfectly timed edits, said the company.

Other upgrades to Premiere Pro include tripling export speeds and offering a new context-sensitive properties panel.

We believe our Firefly Video Model will revolutionise video editing in ways that video professionals are going to love, said Ashley Still, senior vice president, digital media at Adobe. The latest innovations across Premiere Pro, After Effects and Frame.io will empower video professionals to do their best work more quickly, efficiently and beautifully.

Frame.io Adobe unveiled updates to its asset-sharing tool, Frame.io, including a custom metadata model to tag assets with predefined or custom fields, as well as a new custom streaming player that Adobe said delivers playback with minimal buffering and interruptions.

A redesigned comparison viewer enables users to compare two versions of any file side-by-side.

Canon, Nikon and Leica have all joined Frame.io's Camera to Cloud ecosystem, revealed Adobe.

I'm a big fan of using Camera to Cloud as it allows set, basecamp, and editorial to all be linked up for real-time collaboration, no matter the distance, said Mel Eslyn, president of Duplass Brothers Productions, co-creator, director/showrunner of Penelope.

On Penelope, we were shooting in the deep woods of the Pacific Northwest about as remote as you could get yet we still retained the signal. Camera to Cloud allowed our wardrobe, hair, and makeup departments to watch real-time dailies and confirm continuity from afar. My assistant editors were able to address director notes in real time, and because C2C unified and streamlined our workflow, I got episode rough cuts quicker.

Adobe Digital Academy The company also revealed plans for a new global initiative to help 30 million people develop AI literacy and content creation skills by 2030.

The aim of Adobe Digital Academy is to equip next-generation learners and teachers with training, certifications and access to Adobe Express, said the company.

Adobe added that it will fund scholarships and NGO grants to help ensure that emerging professionals from all backgrounds can benefit from the training, tools and direct pathways to future careers.

Adobe's mission has always been to design products that create opportunities and empower people from all backgrounds to change the world, Stacy Martinet, vice president, marketing strategy and communications at Adobe.

We want AI to bridge the digital divide not widen it, and this programme will open doors for emerging professionals to succeed in the future workforce with AI literacy, content creation and marketing skills.
