Nine-Day Exhibition by Sharjah Media Centre to Feature Works by Renowned Artists across Landmark Destinations in Sharjah and Dubai
XPOSURE 2016, Sharjah's first international photography festival initiated by Sharjah Media Centre, has announced its line-up of renowned artists for the outdoor exhibitions scheduled from today Friday, October 7 to Saturday, October 15.
Celebrating the art of photography, XPOSURE's outdoor exhibitions are being held seven days prior to the main event across prominent locations in Sharjah (Sahara Centre, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba and University City) and at CITY WALK Dubai. Projecting photography as an art, visitors can enjoy mesmerising works of six acclaimed international artists across a variety of genres.
Announcing the outdoor exhibition, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, said, We are incredibly excited to bring world-class photographers to the forefront at XPOSURE, 2016, Sharjah's first international photography festival. As a prelude to the main festival, the outdoor exhibitions invite visitors and residents in the region to explore the artistic world of photography. We are thankful to all the artists and photographers for displaying their exceptional body of work. We would also like to acknowledge our partners for setting the stage in hosting some of the global best in the field. We look forward to welcoming one and all to celebrate the art of visual storytelling.
Nature lovers can enjoy the exhibition A Small World by Alberto Panizza, recognised as one of the best Italian photographers for landscape and macro photography. Alberto has also received several awards, including the Oasis International Photo Contest (2012) and the Natural World's International Photo Contest.
Taking flash photography to new heights, Sweden-based photographer Claes Axst l's Airborne Flash reflects a perfect illumination of sports, travel, yachts and aircraft in their real environment. At the dawn of the new millennium, Claes elevated the use of his techniques through collaboration with the Swedish Air Force.
Food lovers can head to Drina Cabral's exhibition, Conceptual Food, where the Dubai-based food photographer showcases food in its various facets of playfulness and seriousness. Drina's image of Red Pears shot in the whimsical nature of a renaissance painting was appreciated and awarded a place in the July 2015 Digital Exhibition at Le Louvre Paris, as part of the Exposure Award Exhibit.
Visitors can indulge in A Split Second by Eddie Keogh, who brings with him over 30 years of experience, photographing every sport - from archery to football. Eddie has worked with Rolex, RollsRoyce, O2 and Barclays, and currently shoots for Reuters, while simultaneously working with Canon as part of their Ambassadors Programme.
Travel enthusiasts can experience the Adventures in Light, an exhibition created by German photojournalist and documentary filmmaker Ulla Lohmann. Specialising in documenting the changing world of indigenous tribes and in photographing erupting volcanoes, Ulla has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including National Geographic, GEO, Stern View, the BBC and The New York Times.
Lastly, photojournalism followers can dwell in The World Press Photo Foundation's exhibition, Stories of Change. A major force in developing and promoting the work of visual journalists, the foundation's accolades have grown to be amongst the most prestigious awards in the industry.
XPOSURE International Photography Festival is the official photography educational & imaging platform launched by Sharjah Media Centre combining a broad range of photography events, including exhibitions, workshops, seminars, presentations, competitions, photo walks and a photographic product Trade Show. Supported by professionals and industry experts, XPOSURE offers many exciting prospects to learn new skills and network with leading professionals and enthusiasts, along with the opportunity to see, handle and try the latest photographic products.
Slated to be a one-of-its-kind event, the premier photography show in the Middle East, XPOSURE will be held from Wednesday, October 12 to Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Expo Centre Sharjah. For more information and details on the exhibitions, please visit www.xposure.ae or call 06 512 3440.
