The 28th annual South African Music Awards (SAMAs) took place over two evenings on Saturday 27 August and Sunday 28 August at the Sun City Superbowl in North West. Mzansi's biggest night in music was hosted by Lawrence Maleka, Nandi Madida, Mpho Popps and multi-talented star, Robot Boii.

The evening was filled with spectacular performances from the likes of Makhadzi, Msaki, Lloyiso, A-Reece, Nomfundo Moh and many others. Zakes Bantwini, who was the most nominated artist at the SAMAs, walked away with two awards for his chart-topping hit, Osama, featuring Kasango.

SAMA 28 HIGHLIGHTS Several of Mzansi's A-list celebrities headed to Sun City for the 28th edition of the SAMAs. The first award of the evening, the SAMRO Highest Airplay Award, was awarded to Zakes Bantwini and Kasango for their chart-topping hit, Osama.

Shortly before the hip-hop performance of the evening, Riky Rick's wife, Bianca Naidoo, paid tribute to the late rapper. Stogie T, A-Reece, Tshego, Raspy, Phantom Steeze, Shishiliza and Venom all hit the stage for the performance.

Riky Rick's brother took the stage to perform the late rapper's hit, Sidlukotini.
