After all the speculation about the Premier League broadcasting rights, it seems Amazon is now looking to Europe to enter the football market.

The streamer is reportedly planning to bid for rights to La Liga and is looking for a telecommunications company to partner with, according to a report El Espanol.

Bidding for rights to air live games from La Liga for the next three seasons (2019-22) is set to begin in April, and Amazon is looking to bid on some of the smaller packages including online rights and the partidazo (match of the day).

However, the report says Amazon also wants to bid for the most lucrative package of eight exclusive La Liga games per match day currently owned by Mediapro.

The newspaper suggests Amazon has already informally contacted La Liga to express its interest, adding that the company is also in talks to present a joint offer with one of the leading Spanish telecommunications operators such as Telefonica's Movistar+, Vodafone or Orange.
