Buenos Aires Event To Be Held Sept. 27 In Conjunction With Jornadas Internacionales

SEPT. 20, 2018 (Exton, PA)-As part of a growing presence in Latin America and beyond, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), next week will conduct the annual Conferencias SCTE ISBE in conjunction with the Jornadas Internacionales 2018 event hosted by the Asociaci n Argentina de Televisi n por Cable (ATVC) in Buenos Aires. Conferencias SCTE ISBE, scheduled for 10 a.m. ART next Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Hilton Buenos Aires, will bring together experts from a variety of vendors and SCTE ISBE to discuss topics that are critical to the continued growth and success of cable telecommunications in the LatAm market. The agenda for the event includes:

Welcoming Remarks by LIC Walter Burzaco, president of ATVC;

La Virtualization de la Cabecera y vCCAP, a discussion of the evolution of cable headends to data centers and the benefits to operators, by Patricio Latini of Casa Systems;

Latest Network Migration Strategies with Distributed Access Architecture (DAA), a presentation on DAA trends, deployments and the ability to implement DAA within normal plant and service upgrades and without disrupting legacy services, by Dr. Ayham Al-Banna of ARRIS;

xPON, a presentation on the details and efficiencies of xPON deployments, including a high-level operational approach and guidance to characterizing, maintaining and troubleshooting xPON, with Steve Harris of SCTE ISBE;

Wi-Fi Home Networks: Understand, Analyze and Solve Issues, an exploration of Wi-Fi concerns and how operators can discover them and resolve them to the satisfaction of consumers, by Horacio G. Arrigo of Tecnous; and

Full Duplex DOCSIS, an explanation of the workings of FDX-DOCSIS and the operation of FDX in a Remote PHY/MACPHY environment, with Dr. Alex Adams, of the Adams Group.

SCTE ISBE's innovation partner, CableLabs , will be represented at Jornadas by Dr. Bernardo Huberman, fellow and vice president, core innovation, who will deliver a presentation entitled Artificial Intelligence and the Network: Present and Future. Dr. Huberman's presentation will take place as part of a discussion of quadruple play opportunities for cable next Wednesday, Sept. 26. Dr. Huberman will be the guest speaker during the Opening General Session of SCTE ISBE Cable-Tec Expo 2018 on Tuesday, Oct. 23 in Atlanta.

Earlier this year, SCTE ISBE announced that Millicom had become the first operator in Latin America to secure an enterprise license for SCTE ISBE training. Millicom is providing 700 of its employees and business partners with access to Spanish-language training in on-premises installation, cable distribution, and wireless technologies.
