Berklee's Music Business/Management Department Recognized by the Music Biz Association Students will receive financial assistance from the Braylin Campbell Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

The Music Business/Management Department at Berklee College of Music was one of three academic partner institutions to each receive a $20,000 Braylin Campbell Memorial Music Business Scholarship at the Music Biz Association's Bizzy Awards on May 14 in Atlanta, Georgia.

I was both surprised and honored to learn that Berklee would be the recipient of such a generous gift, says Tonya Butler, chair of the Music Business/Management Department. I made a point to thank Music Biz for their consideration as well as Braylin's parents Brad and Yolanda Campbell, for their bravery, support, and generosity of spirit.

The foundation, which supports the music industry's future leaders by donating scholarship funds that benefit students in music business programs, was named in honor of Music Biz's colleague Braylin Campbell, who unexpectedly passed away in August of 2024.

The foundation collected a total of $60,000 last year. The University of Miami Frost School of Music and the University of North Texas also received financial awards to support music business students in their respective programs.

Congratulations to the schools who will receive funding from the Braylin Campbell Memorial Scholarship Foundation this year, said Portia Sabin, president of Music Biz. The foundation's important work of supporting tomorrow's music business leaders wouldn't be possible without the generosity of our community, so we at Music Biz want to thank the music industry companies, executives, and our extended family for helping make these financial aid packages possible!

This year marks the first time since the foundation's inception in 1966 that it will provide funding directly to academic partner institutions, which best aligns with Music Biz's status as a B2B organization. This change allows these colleges and universities to both support more students in their music business programs and open opportunities for them to use award monies for study abroad programs, travel to internships, and beyond.
