Rohde & Schwarz wins GTI Innovation Award for its industry-leading R&S TS8980 conformance test system Munich, Feb 25, 2014 - Rohde & Schwarz, a world leader in all areas of RF test and measurement, has won a highly esteemed Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) Innovation Award for 2014 in recognition of its outstanding service to the mobile communications industry.

Each year, the GTI awards acknowledge the achievements and success of industry players participating in the TD-LTE ecosystem. Rohde & Schwarz has been singled out for its R&S TS8980 conformance test system, which tests, verifies and validates mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, flash drives and machine-to-machine modules. Christian Leicher, President and COO of Rohde & Schwarz, accepted the award at yesterday's evening event hosted by GTI during Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona.

The R&S TS8980 was the first validated TD-LTE test system on the market and the first to introduce TD-LTE conformance testing capability. It has consistently led the field in TDD innovation by providing new validation and verification capabilities, including 4x2 MIMO and many emerging 3GPP release 9 features such as beamforming. The R&S TS8980 offers users a full range of advanced features and leading-edge performance. Its capabilities range from testing receiver and transmitter technology, radio resource management capabilities, interoperability and location based services (LBS) to performance and quality measurements.

Development and design of the R&S TS8980 have kept pace with industry's recognition of the importance of interoperability and excellent customer experience as prerequisites to ensuring economies of scale, roaming capabilities and excellent revenues for operators. Each test innovation is aimed at ensuring maximum interoperability, achieving the best possible end-user service, fully automating test procedures, speeding up time-to-market and optimizing valuable resources such as frequency spectrum.
