Haishu District Embarked on Aggreive Environmental Campaign

A riverside two-story illegal building in Guanshan Lu, Haishu District was demolished on August 12. The move was part of Haishu District's aggressive campaign to improve the environment surrounding Phase Two river landscape in Nantang Historic Street. The demolition came a day after the district started to massively tear down illegal sites estimated to reach 18,265 square meters.

This is the latest endeavor of Haishu District to reduce environmental damage along roads and rivers. The administration developed plans to enhance environmental protection surrounding rivers, roads, mountains and railways with priorities given to a total of five water treatment and demolition of illegal buildings in old residential areas, rundown areas and villages in the city. We hold people responsible for each assignment so that the campaign can be completed in time and the cityscape can be transformed for the better.

We started addressing problems one by one as is required by the provincial CPPCC , said a responsible person in the district, adding that the government has already demolished 3 sites involving 3,500 square meters, a place of littered stuff at 1,100 square meters, and 1 illegal site of more than 1,600 square meters. At the moments, all the sources of problems are clear and related units will help coordinate the government's effort.

Duantang Street is the main battlefield for the campaign as No.86 Apartment, Ningbo Medical Sewing Machines Company and Ningbo Honglong Second-hand cars market are involved in addition to a large number of unlawful constructions. In face of the daunting task, responsible person for the street said that the street will not lag behind in addressing acute problems. To this end, the street laid out a map for locating illegal building so as to tear down each and every illegal sites and make the street clean and tidy. through the map, we can focus on our targets very easily , said the responsible person.

In addition, Haishu District also established a normalized management mechanism in which people are appointed as a responsible person for a specific section of a road to ensure no blind spot is allowed.

At this point, haishu District has already blanketed most areas in Duantang section of highway, Qiyun Lu, Wangchun Lu, Wangtong Lu and Xiaoshan-Ningbo Railway, locating 5 problems with one of them being addressed. Altogether affected areas cover 1,600 square meters.
