Multimedios Redes Chooses Cisco DOCSIS Solution for Its Network The company will be able to offer Internet services to up 300 megabits to their customers

The Mexican company offers triple play services

MEXICO CITY, 31 March 2014. - Cisco announced today that MULTIMEDIOS REDES, a leading Mexican company offering triple play services telephony, Internet and video in the northern states of Nuevo Leon, Coahuila and Tamaulipas, has chosen the Cisco DOCSIS 3.0 solution.

DOCSIS 3.0 next-generation cable access network is one of the key components of the Cisco IP Next Generation Network (IP NGN). The flexibility of the platform allows operators to expand the broadband capabilities of their networks to support new services. DOCSIS 3.0 helps operators address network speed limitations by enabling them to increase upstream and downstream speeds to 1G, and also provides support for the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) with advance network capabilities, address space expansion device mobility, support and easier device operation.

MULTIMEDIOS REYEes, through CABLEVISION and TELUM, offers services for residential and enterprise markets. Cablevision, with over 40 years in Monterrey, has over 900,000 subscribers, offering cable TV, Internet and telephony services. Telum, focused in the enterprise market, started operations 10 years ago and has one of the most important fiber optics deployments for its operation.

As leaders in the market, our plans include next-generation video and data in our portfolio, which is why we require a robust network capable of supporting the new services to be offered to our customers. Due to the scalability of the platform, we had chosen Cisco Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification, DOCSIS, that will allow us to grow the broadband in all our network and be the first ISP launching 300 Mbits service in the Monterrey area, said Rene Bortoni, CEO of MULTIMEDIOS REDES.

We had found, through our Cisco Networking Index (VNI,), that in Mexico the IP traffic will grow sevenfold from 2010 to 2015. Service providers, including cable operators, must provide their customers with the means to get any content anywhere at any time, and the technology that will allow them to offer the service if required. We are very pleased to work with Grupo Multimedios and support them with DOCSIS 3.0 that will help them to face the new market requirements, said Rogelio Velasco, Vicepresident deCisco M xico.

DOCSIS 3.0 is a cable standard developed by CableLabs that enables high-bandwidth access networks.

Provides operators with the ability to increase downstream capacity to the existing

customer base of DOCSIS 1.x/2.0 subscribers at a fraction of the cost of a traditional downstream channel.

Allows operators to target the insertion of DOCSIS 3.0 bonded service.

Greatly minimizes operator's DOCSIS 3.0 time to market and deployment risk.
