Traction Ave Films Launches in L.A. Downtown Arts District

A new live action production company, Traction Ave. Films, has launched in the heart of L.A.'s downtown arts district. Representing directors fluent across live action, digital production, design and integration, with work that consistently re-invents traditional forms, the company offers agencies and brands fresh takes on commercials, branded and online content, videogame work, music videos, virtual/augmented reality experiences and live events.

Traction Ave. Films launches with a roster of eight directors, all L.A.-local: Shane Drake, Christopher Leone, Nick Losq, Michael Norman, Jerry O'Flaherty, Toben Seymour, Ben Tedesco, and design collective StarBeast. Its slate of work includes broadcast spots for Toyota, Disney, Nike, Lenovo, and Chevrolet; videogame content for EA, 2K Games, and Facebook Games; music videos for Taylor Swift, Timbaland, Panic! At the Disco, and Moby; sci-fi and comedy pilots on Netflix and SyFy; branded content for Kia Motors and Southern Comfort; and other work that has garnered awards from Cannes to the VMAs, to HBO's Comedy Arts Festival and more. These directors represent a huge range, from comedy to documentary, animation, cars, virtual reality - even puppets, said Traction Ave. Films partner and EP Scott Gemmell. What they have in common is a strong narrative and stylistic sensibility and a contemporary approach to creative problem solving; they're versed in many different techniques that they can pull from and blend. Clients may come in with a traditional ask, but what these directors deliver won't be a traditional solution. They're constantly releasing stuff that captures attention.

Traction Ave. Films is led by commercial industry veterans Nick Losq (Creative Director/Director), Gemmell and Lloyd D'Souza (Executive Producers), and Chris Clyne (VFX Supervisor). The partners have been collaborating throughout their careers for two decades while working in leadership creative and producer roles at top visual effects and production companies. The partners are launching Traction Ave. Films out of StarBeast, their digital design and production company, which has the benefit of supporting Traction Ave. Films' directors with an extended creative team and resources to help them develop and produce original works from start to finish.
